Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Exterior Trimark RV Lock failure

I have a 2014 Leisure Unity and the exterior lock failed recently? It is the regular latch not the deadbolt which doesn't fully retract and keeps the door from opening. It has a Trimark #060-1650 lock on it which is available at Camping World for about a hundred bucks. A little Internet searching reveals many complaints about the Trimark locks, and I'm thinking that they did a re-design with this model being the latest version. From what I can tell I think I may have the latest version, but this rig is only 3 years old and I only use it a couple of months a year..so why would it fail already? I did open up the lock and found a small, white plastic piece which seemed to be the problem as it sometimes keeps the throw bolt from working properly. Does anyone have any experiences with this problem, or with the Trimark replacement locks from Camping World, and from their so called re-design? Is this new re-design any better do you think...or still a lot of problems? Thanks for any guidance you can provide! Also, is anyone aware of any other brand of replacement lock that would fit without any modifications? I've emailed LTV recently about the problem and am waiting to hear back from them. Any comments on your own experiences would be appreciated.

had a Trimark lock fail on my 2002 Winnebago 3 years ago but chocked it up to wear and tear. I called Trimark directly and purchased the replacement, they were very helpful. Have you talked directly to them or just CW? They might do something to help you out on a newer unit. I think mine was in the neighborhood of $90 including shipping.

Thanks for your reply!  I went ahead an ordered another TriMark on Amazon.com and installed it a few days ago.  It fit well and it looked like the little white plastic part had been replaced with a heavier metal piece....which I was glad to see.  The new lock was $106 but free shipping. Camping World had it for about $10 less but I didn't want to wait to have it shipped.  I hope Trimark has strengthened these locks as a failure after only a few years of part-time use is unacceptable to me!
