Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Verizon’s New Plans Heap New Limits On “Unlimited”

https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/verizons-new-plans-heap-new-limits-on-unlimited/ has the details on the new plans starting August 23rd 2017 from Verizon.  The good is the mobile hotspot usage goes to 15GB/month before throttling with the "Beyond" plan instead of 10GB/month but you will pay $5 more. They are also capping video on all plans, including ones we have now. The other changes are also not so good.  For anyone who bought a 4K TV that you planned on using with a Verizon plan, you are out of luck.

Looking at T-Mobile 2 lines and unlimited data calls and internet(50GB) $60 tax in ?? seems like by far best deal out there
anyone used them and whats the download net speeds like(assuming your in a decent area)

"assuming your in a decent area" - That is why we dumped T-Mobile in January, it did not have enough coverage for us. Many places the speeds were good, others there was no service or it was very slow. We had the most trouble along US101 in Oregon and California. The coverage will be changing with the 600MHZ licensing and build out, where they will cover much more of the country. But the first phone to support 600MHZ is the LG V30, which is coming out this month. Those who have to have an iPhone will have to wait until the 8s or something later. The same for the nicer Samsung models. The $60 deal is for 55 plus and does not have all the features of the full plan and thus might not work as well with laptops, etc. I know it costs $25 to have LTE hotspotting (which you need to share your connection with computers and tablets) and I am not sure the 55+ plan can be upgraded.

If you want coverage today, Verizon and AT&T are the kings. If you want a mobile hotspot/Mifi/Jetpack, T-Mobile does not have one and only AT&T lets you use their full GB, Verizon slows you down at 15GB. (The slowdown at 15GB has not been enforced for everyone, but expect it to happen.) Sprint is not worth considering in my opinion.

actually not even concerned with the phone part ,was more in need of dependable internet for laptop while in the western USA mostly california

 The carriers care if the internet is on the phone or shared (tethered) with a laptop or other wifi device.  You are looking for 4G tethering.  For T-Mobile here are the details on the 55+ plan from https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/t-mobile-introduces-one-unlimited-55/ :

"Basically, if you wish to upgrade from the base 'One' plan to 'One+' and receive 10GB of 4G tetherable data, just add $10 per month per line - bringing the cost to $60 (1 line) or $80 (2 lines). If you want to go with One+ International with unlimited 4G mobile hotspot use, you'll be paying $75 (1 line) or $110 (2 lines)."

We have had good speeds and coverage with both Verizon and AT&T in California.  Pricing is higher and prioritization limits are lower with both AT&T and Verizon.

 thanks a bunch my man :iam pretty much up on everything out there except mobile phones and internet; never use mobile phones very much and have never used  the internet through cellular service

when we snow bird to Ca we always stay in one spot so I use spectrum (use to be TWC) land base cable supplied Hi speed internet and Magic jack for our phones for last 10 years

so many friends have internet through Verizon jet pack and all that I thought maybe T-mobile was offering the same only cheap  I figured based on the ad  we would get 2 phones and have internet all for $60 

plus the cost of phones although iam told we can use existing ones and change the sim card and Tmobile would sell the internet device cheap like verizons jetpack
