Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Running Down The RvDream

I would like to introduce my wife of 33 years (Sept 10th),  Leigh, and myself Fred,  to the forum. We have been following the travels and fulltiming lifestyle of Howard and Linda since they started back in 2005. I originally found them back in those days on Hitch Itch, and I have to say they have one of the best websites on fulltime living I have encountered. The information provided is outstanding.  We have gleaned a lot of great tips over the last 11 years, plus found other bloggers from their site that have been beneficial and I look forward every day or so for their updates.

We have been RVers for the last 18 years. We started in a Four Winds Class C and we currently travel in a 2000 Newmar Dutchstar that we have owned since 2004. I have effectually named him Dutch and Leigh calls her Star. Either way it's our baby.  I am a retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer who currently works from home for a company called SCS Cases who provide custom transport  cases for those individuals and companies requiring custom transport cases for sensitive equipment and other items. It's a great gig as I get to work at my pace from wherever home is.

We currently have a sticks and bricks house in south central PA in a little town on the Maryland border 25 miles west of Gettysburg called Waynesboro. We are also 7-miles east off of exit 5 on I-81. We just returned last week from a six week trip to Colorado. Leigh is a Colorado native and I hail from upstate New York originally in the Finger Lakes from a small town called Penn Yan and later from Binghamton until I joined the Navy.  We had a fantastic time out west and actually we didn't want to come back as we felt very comfortable living in Dutch/Star and traveling. I can't say it enough how I miss those views. Therefore we are going to leave next May for the RV Dreams rally which we are registered for, and travel for the next year. We plan on traveling through Tennessee to Texas eventually making our way west to central CA and then up the coast to Washington, then east to Montana, idaho and South Dakota before making our way south to Arizona for the winter. We wintered in Florida in 2009/2010 so we thought we would give Arizona a chance this time.

On our way back east a couple of weeks ago we stopped at Master Tech in Elkhart IN for some estimates on some renovations for Dutch both inside and out. I thought long and hard over this about spending money on an old coach, but, Dutch has been a great MH over the last 12- years and he/she has served us well plus it is paid for, and its basically setup for fulltiming. We are taking it back at the end of the month via the Spartan chasis factory in Charlotte MI for the upgrades. We can't wait to show it off at the rally as we are really pround owners. We are also looking forward to meeting some of you in May and having some really good fellowship. Until then I have some questions I will post on the various threads and chime in every now and then.

Best Regards everyone,

Fred

Welcome to the forum. We attended the spring rally this year and learned a TON! You will meet great folks there, for sure.

Best of Luck!
