Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

You have to use a tow dolly or full car trailer to tow it. I have seen people doing this with a Prius, but most prefer a car that can be towed with all four wheels on the ground.

Yes, we'd be using a dolly. The gas mileage is just so amazing!

Only front wheel drives can be towed on a dolly. AWD/4WD and rear wheel drive vehicles need to be towed with a trailer. In 2018 only some Corolla and Yaris standard shifts were towable four down from Toyota. The 2019 information will not be out until late winter when FMCA and Motorhome magazine do their guides.

We have learned to leave our dreams behind and be practical on vehicles to tow.

Gas mileage is great but the downside is that the Prius is a car and low to the ground making exploring even USFS dirt roads a bigger gamble.

Last I knew some jeeps could be towed with all four tires on the ground (flat towed) but I don't know it that's true any more. You might also want to check if whatever vehicle you are thinking about towing can be towed if it has a manual transmission, most manual transmissions can. You might also want to check out this article on Edmunds.com - www.edmunds.com/car-buying/what-cars-can-be-flat-towed-behind-an-rv.html. Good luck. If you're still in the market in a couple of years I might have a 2008 F-150 that has a manual transmission for sale, but it will have a couple of hundred thousand miles on it. Just a thought.

Yes, whenever a two-year old thread is revived with a post that doesn't make much sense and includes a random link, there's a good chance it's spam as this one is. I'm closing the thread and deleting the offender's post and he will be deleted.
