Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Backup camera for 5th wheel

Lately, I've been towing our 5th wheel by myself and having to rely on random help to spot me backing into camping spots. My kids are no help at ages 5 and 1, lol. I was wondering if any of you had installed a backup camera on a 5th wheel and if so, what brand and model device do you prefer? I like the idea of mounting it up high near the roof but all I can find is something that wires into the tail lights.

I put cameras on high back of my Teton and also on the sides of it just ahead of storage doors behind fither pin box. Put 4th camera just in front of hitch on a magnetic base to watch hitch (have no rear window) and it doubles as a camera for my Smart Car on back of truck. Just turn it around. One side is always blind if you have to cut trailer in. That the use of the side camera. When I can back straight in, mirrors work. Something to consider is a dash camera for recording video. If someone pulls in front of you and stops, it happens, and you hit them in rear you will get ticket. Dash cam will save you that ticket and liability.

OK, I like the idea of more than one camera. Then I could see all sides including my blind side. How do you hook them up? What kind do you use?

www.ebay.com/itm/10-QUAD-FOUR-CAMERA-REAR-VIEW-BACKUP-SYSTEM-REVERSE-SAFETY-CAR-TRUCK-SUV-RV-4-/271245286497 Contact him and tell him what you want to do. He is very good and has as good as you can get at a decent price. Basically a connection at back of truck, connection at fither at pin box. A coiled connector for hook up. Run cable up to cab and connect to camera.

I originally posted this because of some tight spots I was dealing with at campgrounds and my 42 ft fiver. Well, 2 days ago, even though I had 2 people spotting for me, I hit a tree with the back of my unit. It was a very tight turn with way too many trees too close to the road for a campground and the tail of my camper swung around into a low hanging limb. Needless to say, I have to get my rubber roof replaced now. I guess I was just a little late with the camera idea...

You can patch it with Etherbond. Good stuff. Permanent repair.
