Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi all! After about 3 years of planning, researching, visiting many RV shows (including 2 trips to Tampa and 1 to Hershey!), we have narrowed our search down to a DRV Full House (toy hauler, for those unfamiliar). Since we'll need to have a big ole' truck to pull the 5er around, we're planning on bringing DH's motorcycle along in the garage so we can have a more economical way of getting around most days. Besides, the garage can do extra duty as my sewing room (my sewing machine is non-negotiable), a man cave for the nights DH wakes up and can't get back to sleep, and a bunk room for our grands and/or kids when they visit us. We're going to make the big leap, selling our house and retiring, and becoming full-timers. House goes on the market next March, and we move into the 5er with our kitties while the house is being shown, since apparently some people don't like cats! Hoping the stars align for us so that we can hit the road by June next year.
We both tent camped as kids growing up, and when our own kids were little, we had a pop-up. No comparison, I realize, but we have always liked the idea of being able to travel where we choose, and get the heck out of Dodge (or, in our case, New Hampshire!) when Old Man Winter is about to come knocking. We moved around a lot over the years, so the idea of not setting down roots anywhere isn't a foreign concept for us either.
In addition to sewing, I like to bake. I haven't really done much of it lately, but want to get back to it when I have my time to call my own again. Not convinced that a micro/convection will be something I can ever get used to. I also haven't heard many positive comments about the standard RV issue range/oven combos. Here's my question, mostly for the ladies: if you have a range/oven, what are your pros/cons, and what is the make of the oven? I was thinking that maybe we could special order something, an apartment/galley sized range and have it installed. I would do this in place of having a dishwasher, which I just can't justify for the space it takes up. I'd rather have my oven! Anyway, having to wash dishes right after using them will force me to be better organized!
Now that I made such a long-winded introduction, I thank you for taking the time to read it, and hope to get to "know" you all better here, and maybe in the future on the road!
