Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Welcome aboard. Great community 'round here.  Methinks 4 years will will come faster than you think.smile  We are looking at 2019 to kick off our adventure, it already seems closer than that. For now we are getting the house in order for future sale and getting up to speed on all things RV.  What fun!!!  Massive purging comes next... not looking forward to that.confuse

Enjoy the countdown.

Jeannie,

First of all, welcome to the forums.  You'll find a lot of knowledgeable folks here about all kinds of RV's and the RV lifestyle.  So, ask away.

As for the length of an RV, each individual/couple has their own priorities and needs.  We have full-timed now in our 38 foot Mobile Suites 38TKSB3 and have found it to be an ideal rig for us, that being the wife and I.  Some folks can get by full-timing in much smaller rigs, especially if they plan on staying in a lot of Forest Service campgrounds.  But, even if one is staying there, since most FS campgrounds don't have hook-ups, RV'ers need to consider space for external things like generators, lawn chairs, etc.

In many cases, the floor plan layout is more important than the length.  Only you can determine what plan you might need and how much space as well.  Since the wife has removed our couch and put in a sewing center, I'm certainly glad we have a 38-footer.

Terry

Thank you Both BiggarView and Terry, my husband and I both agree we would like a smaller unit but it must have the storage so I continually look at different floor plans. I have no worries though I still have about four more years to find what he and I really can agree on and want. See when we first decided this is what we wanted to do and gave ours 5 years to get everything paid off and go for early retirerment we were running all over the place go, We NEED this and we NEED that but now we have finally calmed down and realized to take our time, plan slowly and double check to make sure that we are doing things right.

I have created a check list of all the things we will need (from reading many different threads) and place them in different columns of yes we do need this, maybe might need, or just want. I have also created another spread list of who and how long it will take to pay off bills so we are debt free, and a shread sheet for the savings and how I can get us to were I believe we need to be to survive for the first year with out worries. We do plan on Workamping just not right away. (can you tell I like spread sheets and Excel Program:) )

Now if only I can get my husband to follow my lead, he keeps wanting to purge our house now and sell everything off. I keep having to remind him unless we win the lottery (which we dont play) we are not going anywhere just yet, and no he cant sell the lawn equipment because he still has to mow.

Jeannie
