Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I was contacted yesterday by a physician in Seattle that says he has a weird side-hobby of renting out his Verizon unlimited data lines. He has had a line open up and asked if anyone here might be interested. It's $140 per month and I know nothing else about this fellow. But I will provide his phone number and email address to anyone that sends me a private message showing interest. First come, first served and proceed at your own risk. :)
I have been given permission to publish the email address for the person offering this deal, so you can contact him directly: bennettjohnson1@gmail.com
No offense, Howard, but I find it very surprising that you would pass along information about someone you know nothing about. When it comes to things like this, especially, I tend to be very suspicious.

If I didn't think this guy was legit, I wouldn't have posted it. He provided his email and phone number, and we exchanged a few emails. I know several people have been trying to find these unlimited plans, so I felt it was worth the risk to provide the opportunity. Of course, I have to put in the disclaimer that I'm just passing along the info and those that are interested can be adults and make their own decisions as to whether or not to follow up.

We have a similar deal through a guy we heard about on an RV blog, he 'rents' out data on a monthly basis and has been doing it a long time. Hubby was a little skeptical at first, but we were paying around $130 pm for our hotspot data thru Verizon. We decided to risk it and go with this 'guy' in December. Since then we have had genuine unlimited data, no throttling, no issues. The data is through the Verizon network and it works really well.
We pay automatically, through Paypal, the guy has no access to our financial account, we can contact him through email and we are very happy with our plan. We were able to cut our data with cell phone down to 1 gig a month and our verizon bill by under half. That pays for the unlimited data that we pay $120 a month for.

With these types of plans can you stream TV shows instead of using a Dish/cable/receiver?
Yes, as long as your signal is strong enough wherever you are. That's the beauty of an unlimited plan these days. With streaming so popular, it allows you to stream without those pesky data limits coming into play so quickly. Otherwise, streaming days are over (or very expensive) for many future full-timers that have gotten used to getting all their entertainment that way.
BUT, it comes with the risk of Verizon suddenly cancelling, throttling, or otherwise killing the fun. :)
There is one other "feature" of prepaid plans. It is ALWAYS subject to "network management" ... that little bit of psycho babble means that it is at the bottom of the barrel with regard to priority. As I NOW understand it there are 3 levels of priority on a cell tower. 1. emergency services and first responders 2. POSTPAID PLANS and 3. PREPAID PLANS. This was news to me (due to my stupidity) and while I knew that it was "network managed" at all times, I assumed it would be like it was when I was "network managed" with my postpaid plan ... but it's different. Prepaid accounts will literally get kicked off (as in ZERO cell service) if a tower is saturated with postpaid calls, texts, video streaming ... etc. Ask me how I know this. I know it is always a "buyer beware" world ... but I really wish I had fully understood what "network managed" in the PREPAID world meant before I jumped on to this prepaid deal. A bit of buyers remorse, accompanied by greater knowledge thanks to Technomadia. The way the "network management" works with POSTPAID accounts, is when you hit your data limit you get throttled down. The way it works with PREPAID accounts is that you don't get slowed down (remember "no throttling", you get ejected off. Bummer. We are in a rural area which Appears to be served by just one cell tower and is very near an RV Park (what are the chances of that😳). This is our second night of ZERO cell service from Verizon. We are on our “back up” AT&T system which is slower, but at least it’s working. Unlimited, Unthrottled ZERO signal is still ZERO. Just sharing my thoughts.

Ron I dont know where you presently at but I’m in Yuma where the population basically doubles during the winter season. While I have experienced some slow downs to the extent I was very disappointed early on I went back to the Verizon store and complaine. They replaced my SIM card and reset my new hotspot, 8800. Since then I have have little issues
I have a brand new 8800L. Based on what I have learned, I believe that the “prepaid unlimited, unthrottled” plans are Verizon’s cleverly packed deals to “sell what’s left”. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

The original posting of this thread is about 3 years old, and we all know that cell services can change in much shorter periods of time. This is why Howard prefers that we not "revive" posts/threads that are over a year old. Anyone coming along after a post is revived may believe that the "original" information is still relevant.
Kindly check the dates on posts before commenting on an old thread. Due to the age of this one, I will be closing it. If Howard wants to reopen it, that is up to him.
Terry
