Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello folks. After spending an hour or so browsing through your site, you seem like the kind of folks that my wife and I would enjoy getting to know better. Just getting back into camping after 32 years and boy have things changed. Our last rig was a 25 foot bunkhouse behind a suburban that we pulled all through the mountains of Colorado and beyond with our three young'uns. Fast forward to 2015 and we found ourselves empty nesters with our kids and grandkids kind of scattered around with two in Georgia and one in Texas.
We are 7 years 3 months and 12 days from retiring (but who's counting, right?) and decided that we were ready to ditch the airports, TSA lines, rent a cars, and hotels in favor of getting back into RV's. After reeducating ourselves and finding "the right one" four or five times and surprise, surprise, going for a much longer RV than we thought we would get, we placed an order for a 3010DS Sunseeker on February 6th. I like to tinker and make "improvements" to everything we have so this is going to be a blast!
We have enjoyed reading about what other people have learned and look forward to being a part of your community. Oh, and I tend to get a little long winded, so I will hang up and listen now. <sipping coffee>
Welcome aboard. Ylou are close to us, age-wise, so your retirement date target sounded like us when we first decided to look into going FT.
When we joined this forum in December of 2013 we thought we were about 9-10 years away from the promised land. At that time it was suggested to us that our kick off date might come sooner than we planned originally. Low and behold, we have shaved about 3 years off our start date. At the outset we were ultra conservative in our estimates with no real idea about what it might cost and how we would fund it. Knowledge is a powerful tool and today we are very confident of a 2019 start... at the latest. Once we identified our goals and the plan to achieve it... it was actually quite liberating. I suspect that you will find it similarly so for yourself as you dig into it. In a way I envy your ability to get a rig at this stage, that option is not open to us yet but don't be sad for us... the plan is working it's magic and we are on the way to hitting the road ahead of our original vision.
Let the race begin.. there are no losers this time.
Nice to meet you, we are in Texas the hubby is still working but when he is not and every weekend we love rolling in the slides and adventuring about. We have a Mandalay Bay Coach and love it.
