Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We DOVE IN!

We're newlyweds with a good-size (but friendly) pup who were transferred recently to the south San Jose area.  Having determined that our living budget only allowed us the worst of apartments, we bought a brand new travel trailer and a TT membership. We're in our first week at the Morgan Hill TT, and don't have many complaints unrelated to mud. ;)  Since most RV parks in this area have a waiting list to go monthly, we plan to "hop" the other parks during our out of system time, in search of an ideal, more permanent monthly spot. After that, I imagine we'll use the membership for vacations, but found that it was a good deal, regardless.

Would love any up-to-date info from others in the area doing Full-timing. Reviews on any parks within 40 minutes of Gilroy are most appreciated! Also, if anyone has any thoughts on saving money on propane or power, we'd love it! We have a wonderful space heater for the parks that include electricity (un-metered), or can switch to propane heat as necessary.

Thanks!

Hi Tiffani and Jeramie..

Good for you guys!! Lee uses an extension cord and electric heater which we plug into the second outlet when we have free electric. Originally he ran it through the window on a cord, but finally wired a separate outlet in the bedroom just for the space heater. That keeps us nice and toasty at night and allows us to put the propane heater on very low. Also make sure everything is on electric, water heater, fridge etc. Your propane use then should be minimized to your stove and if you want you can always use the microwave as well. Basically we have two setups. One for when we have free electric using all electric to heat and the other when boondocking using solar and propane. It took us awhile to get all this setup though, so try not to get to worried about the early days. takes awhile to figure out what works for you.

Welcome aboard, Trace

Welcome aboard, you'll find this site to be a great place to find information.

The Bay area is a tough area to find RV parks. It's also a tough area to drive through with an RV due to crazy drivers, tons of freeway interchanges and little cars with drivers who cut you off and then expect you to stop on a dime. Of course, maybe that's just our experience, but it's one of the few areas on the West Coast that is now permanently off our list to bring the RV into, used to do a few art shows there and decided the stress and expense of finding somewhere to park and actually getting to the park was just not work it. But, I understand, that's where your work is so you don't have much of a choice, I say that as we're in the LA area due to my work for 3 weeks and absolutely hating being in a city this big with all the traffic issues.

Now that being said, have you looked at www.rvparkreviews.com/ ? Reviews of campgrounds etc. Also, AllStays has listings, plus some reviews, not as many as RV Park Reviews.

Best of luck!
