Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Parks in the Austin, TX, area?

We had our sights set on McKinney State Park near Austin toward the end of this week, but the park's site says they are closed due to flooding. The only military park (I'm retired Army) near Austin is at an NG installation and seems to be mostly filled with active guard and reserve folks. Anyone familiar with Bastrop RV Park (near Bastrop, obviously) or have any other suggestions? We're full-timers and the $40/night "resorts" are out of our price range.

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Looking at RV Park Reviews there are campgrounds under $40 a night in both Austin and Round Rock, just not ones that provide much in "It Factor" or amenities. Bastrop is a good drive away from Austin proper, but it looks like it has a good selection of campgrounds.

Currently we are visiting family in a campground that is an asphalt parking lot, Konocti Vista Casino RV Park in Lakeport CA. This place recently raised its rates a bunch to $247.50 a week, which is outrageous. But here we are, since it is the closest decent place to family. Closer campgrounds are not good for big rigs or are run down. The next two closest good choices are either closed due to forest fire damage or full of people who lost their homes to the fires. So, we live with it. If we had no reason to be here, we would be somewhere else. But, we have reason to be here and have to deal with it not being ideal.

Old Settler's Park in Round Rock advertises a $20. fee. We have stayed there because it is closest to our grandchildren. Not a resort by any means, but acceptable. Pat K.
