Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well, our house finally sold after 5 long years!! We are so excited. We purged a lot!! We kept a few things which are in storage, and the rest of our furniture and stuff went to the kids! We will spend one more winter in Alberta then the winter of 2016 we will start our fulltime travels It is kind of exciting and scary at the same time. This is a whole new chapter in our lives! Bring it on!!
I'm really new at this RV thing but ill get their hopefully. One of my big questions is do you leave the icebox running on LP gas while your heading down the road. We are about to pull out for our first adventure. With a brand new 30 foot Travel trailer and truck. I sure would like this to be a successful adventure. I welcome any advice that comes my way. So far we have been parked at a park while we sort our things and ready the trailer so it is a bit like home. It sure was a bit overwhelming for a couple weeks. We plan on heading out Sept 30 and plan as we go from their who knows where we will end up after that it is just a flip of the coin and weather providing.

Bobby,
For the most part, I think folks tend to leave the RV fridge running on LP while traveling. However, be aware that some places where there are long tunnels and such may have restrictions on having an LP refrigerator operating while in those locations. You may not be anywhere near those places, so it might not be a problem.

Our house just finalized yesterday, so we are officially without a sticks and bricks home. I could not sleep last night, I kept thinking about everything and how things would pan out. I am excited, but still a bit apprehensive. Did you feel that way when your house sold? I am just wondering what others went through when they sold and realized that their unit was the only home they had now. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to this but was a bit emotional!!
I too was very excited and very scared, was I doing the right thing and was I going to miss all the things I was getting rid of that I had collected all my life. Now that it is done I feel amazingly free, I am no longer the keeper of everyone else's stuff. It is different but a really good different.
Wish you the best keep looking forward and enjoy. But choose wisely picking your new home and don't get in a hurry. We felt rushed because of the quick sale and 30 days to get out of the house, now we wish we had taken more time. We bought a 2016 Heartland Cyclone 4100 King HD and now we really wish we had opted for motor home so we are going to see if we can trade with someone that has a motor home of equal value knowing it will be older but for our health it would be better.
Thank's, now I know I am not alone in wondering if this was the right move. We bought our unit (3402RL Montana Fifth Wheel) last year. We have been living in it for the last year, so I know I am able to live in a smaller space quite happily. We did a lot of research before we bought. We always new we wanted a Fifth Wheel, just not wich one.
I would love to keep in touch to see how you are doing on your travels, and maybe we will see each other on the road some time!
Good luck with everything! Such an exciting time!!! I can understand that its scary though!!! I bet you'll be great!! We are very far out yet from getting on the road (as in years), but its still scary! All the planning and things that need to be done. I wrote my introduction post and someone replied "baby steps". So that's what I'm trying to do. I want to take care of it all now!
I don't know how winters are in Alberta, but while you go through this winter and dealing with the snowing and blowing, you'll be wishing you were on the road now, LOL!!!
Thank's for the well wishes!! Winters in Alberta can be extreme, or mild. Last winter it was not so bad, we are hoping that this winter will be like that!! But you are probably right, we will be wishing we were on the road!!
Good luck with your plans. It is fun to plan and talk about where you want to go and what you want to do. It does take a lot of planning, and baby steps is a good way to put it. Hope your plans work out the way you want!
if you aren't apprehensive and a bit scared you aren't sane! We hit the road nearly 5 years ago and had the exact same feelings. Expect the unexpected as you two get used to a new life style. Remember the first six months are so are the toughest as you learn new ways to do things and adapt to your new living arrangements. After six months open that bottle of wine and enjoy it as you will most likely come to the conclusion that you have done the right thing and then only good memories await you ahead on the road...
Thank's for the positive feedback! We will definitly open that bottle of wine, and toast all of you that have made me feel good about the decision we have made!!
