Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

What Jobs Does Everyone Do On The Road?

Hi Everyone.

This may have come up before, and I did a little searching but couldn't really find anything I'm looking for specifically... Sooo....

What job's does everyone do on the road?

I am learning to code, web development, and I keep getting these moments of, do I really want to do this? Can I do this? I am curious to see what other possibilities are out there for me before I get too far into this.

Thanks :)

My husband was an IT field technician for many years (subcontractor). He did anything from fix printers to installing POS systems and huge networks for nationwide companies. For a while, all he had to do was tell his contracting company where he was to see what gigs they could give him in the area. Unfortunately, since we became f/t, the jobs became unreliable and few & far between. He recently did a 180 degree turn and took on a job as a gas line inspector, where they need people who can travel from place to place. It's a grueling job (walking about 10 miles a day in the summer heat), but at least it's steady and pays the bills.

As for me, I own an administrative support company (aka virtual assistant). If you visit my website (I'm currently having a glitch with the URL so you'll see a weird message when you go there), you can learn more about exactly what I do and how I got there.

Our decision to f/t was based on having jobs that lend themselves well to being on the road - as long as there's an internet connection (which we pay dearly for). Sounds like you have all the makings of being able to do this as well.

You are happy though? I mean, that's the whole purpose of becoming f/t right?
I noticed you are using wordpress. I not there yet, but I am going to be learning to create websites on that too.
After a lot of oohing, and ahhing, I have decided this is what I want to do job wise. I can take it anywhere with me, as you can with your own company which is great! My husband is a online auto consultant that he can do anywhere there is internet too.
It sounds great that your husband was able to get a job where they need you to travel.

I am a project manager and my husband is doing videography and is an RV tech. When you think about what to do on the road...assess your skills and don't ignore things you may have done earlier in your life as those are skills you can resurrect.

My husband works for Mergers & Acquisitions.  As long as he has internet access and cell it's all good.  Surprisingly, it has not been a problem this past year and we go to some pretty remote places.  Lucky me, I'm retired!

I took my corporate job (pursuit management) on the road, although we're not 100% we'll now be able to continue that full time due to a change in my company's approach to teleworking. My husband is an artist, so we're going to continue to be at least part time traveling between his art shows so we should be able to travel at least 40-50% of the time while we continue to work from our RV.

Technomadia has info on their website regarding different potential jobs:
