Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We know nothing about RVs but want to travel. We have a person that is a friend of our son who has an RV for sale. It is high mileage and we are worried about the mileage, 100K. It is a 30' 2000 Georgie Boy. Looks pretty good inside but a 100K miles is a lot to us. It has no leveling system and he offered to throw in a Honda generator but aren't they supposed to be built in. Also throwing in a tow dolly with a wench.
if the engine is gas.....well its kinda high and you need to look at service records and such carefully........if its diesel well you just about broke the engine in and have alot left if it was maintained.......everything else is minor.....but at 6k$$.........look it over carefully and if it fits your needs your good to go

I doubt it will be a diesel for only $6k, but who knows?
Maybe he is trying to unload his wench cause she's getting older, and is high maintenance - eating more than she's worth and such. I'd tell him to keep the wench and he has a deal. I'd take the Honda though.

It's gas and he says he levels it with a 2 x 4. He is not the original owner. Do you have an email I can send photos of it to you. We don't want to get out on a trip and breakdown. What about generators etc. it is a new microwave and two new flat screen TVs. Anything we should check out closely. Thank you for your reply. We are really newbies at this. Do t even know if we will like it 😀
I believe those came with a 5.5kw Onan generator. They cost about $4k new, so since he's only asking $6k for the whole rig, I could understand if the genny's broke or missing.
As long as there are no water leaks and it runs, shifts gears, etc, it sounds like a pretty fair deal to me.
For perspective, RV Trader lists 12, 2000 Georgie Boy RVs ranging in price from $20k to $39.8k so don't expect it to be perfect for only $6k. www.rvtrader.com/New-and-Used-Georgie-Boy-Class-A-For-Sale-On-RV-Trader/search-results|198067,Class+A|198067&fueltype=gas&make=Georgie+Boy|430001&radius=100&schemecode=AD&sort=price:asc&vrsn=results&year=2000:2000&newsort=1

He said he would throw in a tow dolly and a honda generator. Now below $6. It look good from photos but have no idea. He Just wants an offer. He is divorcing and wants to sell. I'm not sure how hard it is to level without those push button leveler. Ive read about it and it seems a little bit difficult especially if it's hot or raining. 😀. Retired and lazy.
Then expect to spend in the $20k+ range for one with levelers. But for the $14k difference, I'd level manually. If this is a deal breaker then buy it, use it a little and see if you can live with not having a hydraulic leveling system. Then sell it for a nice profit (as it appears to be well below market value) if you can't. Then apply the money from the sale toward one with a leveler. But in the meantime you can explore the lifestyle and see if its for you. If not, you haven't lost anything but a little time.

That depends on what you want to buy. The original was a 5.5kw Onan which runs about $4,000 new. An EU3,000i Honda (name brand) that will run 1 ac unit runs about $1,900 new. A 2,700 Powerhouse (off brand) that will run most 13,500 btu ac units runs about $1,000.
Just remember that in generators, like everything else, you generally get what you pay for. Of course used generators, like used cars are typically much less than new ones, with the exception of brands like Honda and Yamaha that hold their price pretty well -expect to pay about 3/4 of the new price for one of these units in good shape.
