Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Like Howard, we tested the Truma AquaGo Comfort instant hot water heater. We installed it in our 2015 New Horizons coach a little over two months ago.  

The bottom line is that I recommend this system. You can read the full test report HERE.

Looks like the unit costs about $1200. That could pay for itself easily during the first uninterrupted shower!

I wonder if Precision Temp is working on improving their models to compete? Until Truma came in, they were best.

I think the RV tankless hot water units are awesome units but to be honest in 5 years of fulltiming I have never ran my water heater out of hot water.
Makes it kind of hard for me to justify the expense of the change out to a tankless water heater.

Maybe at some point in the future if my current water heater fails, I will look at installing a tankless unit replacement.

You will love it ... It's VERY close to perfect! It's also very economical. We've been on the same 30 lb propane bottle for the last 4 weeks. While just wife and me, it's at least two longish showers every day. Admittitedly, I've not used the propane for anything other than hot water (except for one one pizza in the oven ... 20 mins @ 450 degrees). But I still think that's very efficient use of propane!!!

A follow up to the last post. When we finished our trip, I assumed that the propane tank would need to be filled before we head out again in about a month (I like to start with them both full). Pulled the one bottle that we had been using and took it to be filled. When I pulled it out, I could tell it still had some propane in it as it was sloshing around. Propane service center weighed it and it was still 1/2 full!! That's just unbelievable ... we went nearly a month on just 1/2 of a 30 lbs tank. That is amazing efficiency, IMO. I don't know what "conventional" RV LP hot water heaters use, but the Truma AquaGo is really economical.  Oh ... we only operated it in ECO mode, so that may have helped with the low use.  Never even tried the COMFORT setting and the wait time for hot water to get to the spout is about the same as any other hot water heater ... maybe 10-15 seconds or so.
