Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hope everyone is well and safe down in the area of Dallas/Ft. Worth. The news this morning showed quite a bit of damage from tornadoes that came through.

Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.
We were on the north side of Fort Worth and the tree across the drive from us had a huge limb split off this AM. Not sure if it was a lightning hit (we had several REAL close) or just the high winds. Made for an interesting night again. We're in Quanah, TX this afternoon. Pulled in at 1:00 pm after battling heavy rains all the way up from the metroplex. People next to us were near the DFW airport last night - they also pulled in because they were tired of the heavy driving in the rain. More rain tonight, but severe stuff has moved east.
This trip has reinforced my 'rule' we go up the west coast in the spring, then go see the rest of the country from now on!

Spring is sounding as crazy as Winter for much of the country. I agree with you Barb - the West Coast (and I think Vermont) are the only places on the map not either windy as heck or under storm watch!
Thursday we drove a load of art from Denver to Wichita Falls, had beautiful weather all the way. Friday we drove the rest of the way to Dallas in wicked storms. By the time we made it to the airport to fly home it had turned dark as night. Before they made us get away from the windows it looked like hurricane coverage and they closed the airport. They never said we had a tornado but it sure looked like we could have.

Woah Barb...so glad you are ok. I grew up with Tornado's in the Midwest and and not so thrilled about facing the prospect from an RV which is bound to happen sooner or later. So glad you are ok.
I grew up in Michigan on the eastern edge of tornado ally and live in Denver on the western edge of it. We have seen many tornadoes over the years including one that skipped right over our house dropping stuff from a block away as it did. More than once we have been at a high point and could see multiple funnels at once across the area.
It's rarer that we get them in the mountains but it happens. The closest we have seen was a dust devil that tried to get out awning and would have if I hadn't been there to hold it down. At 230 lbs it had me off the ground for a second and it felt like I was being sand blasted.
Be safe out there. Our tornado season is just starting here.

I grew up in Texas and my wife in Oklahoma. We both have a lot of unfond memories of spending nights in a storm cellar. When my mother was passing away and we had to be in Gainesville TX for a month we had a number of close calls with twisters. We had our bail-out bags packed and sat watching the Weather Underground radar storm cells as they came towards us. At that point we knew we would not settle down in any place prone to tornadoes when the time came for us to get off the road. We ended up here on the western slope of CO where there have only been one or two small twisters recorded in a lot of years.
