Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Starting at the very beginning ~ Dough - RV - Me

Hi, I don't remember what link brought me here, but boy am I glad it did. My DH and I are still a ways away from 'Life on the road'. We've got a few years to play with but I need to do extensive first, for me the research is the fun part. Reading through the threads on this forum, I've found I have a lot to research. I never knew there were so many different types/classes of RVs. Ideally, I would like to start with a small TT to fix up, vacation in a year or two then flip for a bigger modell, rinse and repeat etc. It would be fun, but more importantly, teach us how to maintain a permanent rig. We currently live in Kansas City with children in Denver and Seattle. More than likely we will keep our rock house and do the snowbird thing. Who knows... An issue we will have is figuring out how to garden on the road. That is currently our biggest pastime.

Thanks for a great forum,

Vicki Derks

Vickie,

Welcome aboard. We started with a Class C - it was very forgiving as we learned how to do things, easy to drive, had many great trips in it before we purchased our Class A. So I think that is a great idea. I assume you are thinking a TT because you have something to tow it with? Don't assume that you are 'flip' RVs like you can houses - - buy used because you aren't going to make money, or even break even, when you sell. As to your ultimately RV for fulltiming, make sure you that go to as many RV shows as you can. Go in and out of units, thinking about how you would live in them. Slip off your shoes and stand in the shower and see if you can pull the shower door closed, wash your hair, turn around, bend down to get the soap, etc. Check that you can sit down on the toilet and close the door. Can you reach into the cabinets easily. If the slides are in, can you get to everything you will need. It is fun and often you all meet people who already have a similar unit and can ask questions.

Lots of people who post on these forums have blogs and links will appear in their signature lines. Read as many as possible - - it will give you an idea of all of the different ways to RV, different places to go, etc.

BTW - you might find that you won't have time for a garden once you start exploring the country.

You can still garden while RVing, just at a GREATLY reduced scope. I've seen many people with container gardens of herbs, greens, flowers, etc. They just put them on the floor of the RV for travel.

Howdy Howdy vdirks,

We're almost neighbors. We are Ft'ing in our MH, although we do have a 10 acre Ranchette that we will be listing "For Sale" in Bethany, MO. We are on our way back home from our winter stay in Beeville, TX. It will take us almost 2 wks to get home because of stops to visit our grown children along the way. And then of course the Fleamarket @ Rutledge, MO on the 11th &12th of April.

It's so good to have you folks join with the family here on RV Dreams. Folks on this site are from every walk of life and willing to share their experiences Good & Bad. Who knows, soon you may be able to share also. Enjoy the Journey !

If you sign-in, you can click on a persons name or aka and often read a short Bio. This will help get to know folks a little better.
