Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
J & H RV Park is nice enough as a commercial campground.Big Rig OK. We were there last fall. On US-89 just NE of the town.Only issue, and this is a Flagstaff power issue, not the park, is sometimes one leg of the power will be high – or low.Had to use the 30amp plug due to very high power on one leg, (That’s why we strongly recommend a true power monitoring / protection system – not just a “surge” protector.Saved the rig – again.)
Of the ones we’ve stay at in Flagstaff we thought this one was the best for our purpose.Nice sites and room for a commercial operation. In the summer especially you’ll need reservations.A lot of people from the Phoenix area come up here in the summer and park “full-time.”
There are a great many things to see around Flagstaff. The number of “destination parks” there is – well – limited. But still a nice enough place to stay.
The Grand Canyon Village - South Rim is only 100 miles and you can make the loop drive in a day and easily make it back to Flagstaff. Go up State Road 64 north off I-40 west of Flagstaff to the GC Village. (There is camping in GC – but make rez.) Then east on SR-64 over to GC east entrance to join US-89 back to Flagstaff.
The Lowell Observatory is right there in Flagstaff – really neat place.A great drive down Alt-US-89 from Flagstaff to Sedona.Great one-day drive down and back up I-17.Walnut Canyon is just east off I-40 as is Meteor Crater as was noted. As noted Sunset Crater National Monument is just up north on US-89, right up from the park I mentioned in previous post.
Really nice area and you’re at 7,000 feet. We didn't go there for the park. But if your looking long term it is a nice place to stay in the summer.
We stay in the Camp Verde/Cottonwood (Sedona) area and only go into Flagstaff about once per stay for the stores. Lots of places to stay in Camp Verde/Cottonwood area.

Agree, we like Camp Verde near Cottonwood. Good spot between Phoenix and Flagstaff depending on time of year.
