Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I just finished reading your article posted at: http://www.rv-dreams.com/choosing-campgrounds.html
My question is, it looks like this may have been written several years ago. Is there anything important that you might add or modify that is different today. Particularly, an important new website to peruse, membership discounts we should consider, etc.
I am going to follow your posting closely, as we have a very similar criteria, and are fairly new to the RVing.
Much of it is still the same, but we now use UltimateCampgrounds.com a lot to get our search started. It includes almost 22,000 public campgrounds and it's a great resource for locating those nice city/county parks that are often hard to find. I'll tend to start there now since I can see all public campgrounds on the map at the same time, and then drill down to the other web resources.
And we have substituted FreeCampsites.net for FreeCampgrounds.com which we never really found all that helpful. You just have to be careful regarding the timing since many sites that are available and free one year are gone the next.
That is most definitely of great help! Thanks for your response and the excellent resources provided. I have bookmarked this thread so I can easily refer back to your recommendations in addition to your original post. We just need to get our house sold, and then off we go! A very fun goal to work towards.
P.S. I replied to this topic with the "Quick Reply" at bottom of the page, but that didn't seem to take. I'm not sure if that was it's correct use. So if this is a redundant post, forgive me.
