Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Does anyone use an air purifier in their RV? If yes, which one? It dawned on me today that maybe one of these would help cut down on dog hair (we have three) and dust flying through the air. I know it wouldn't help while boondocking, but it might when we have hook-ups. Any thoughts from others that have one or might have given it a shot?

We use a Holmes model??? with a HEPA filter whenever we can. It does help, how much? I don't know. But we have 2 cats, 1 long hair, 1 dog, and have gate guarded in the Texas southeast and west in the caliche dust for 15 months. We replaced or cleaned the filter ever 2 weeks, and it was always loaded with dirt.

We have a Honeywell tower unit that we bought at Wal-Mart and run it in the bedroom, low at night, higher in the daytime. It says clean every 3 months, but we find it needs it about every 6 weeks.

Heh....

....our purifier is called the Rocky Mountains.  The air is great here, although it does lack just a wee bit in having enough oxygen.  Just about the time I was getting close to being acclimated, I contracted Bronchitis, and that set me back a lot.  On our 1.4 mile walk, Jo just about wears me out.

I have a Honeywell.  I have 3 cats and it really cuts down on the cat hair and dust.

Our friends also have a Honeywell unit and are pleased with it. Also consider an Oreck unit. Our Canadian Costco's currently have them in store, so the price will be fair. As I understand, the Oreck units have a washable filter system, saving the cost of buying replacement filters.

The Honeywell that we bought at Wal-Mart bit the dust, so we now have a Therapure unit from Costco, about $100. It has a sleep setting, is much easier to clean than the Honeywell and is a bit smaller, so we prefer it.
