Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We just purchased a new to us 2012 f450 for our TV.

The bed is prepped for a hitch.

HELP!   Please recommend a hitch for a 16000lb load

Thanks.

Always go heavier than what you figure.  Who knows if a year or two down the road that you decide to buy another, heavier trailer.  We have a Mobile Suites that weighs 18,500 lbs, so our Reese is a 22K unit.  That should be heavy enough as long as we don't trade up to a 43' trailer.

There are lots of brands, but I've been told that Reese has a good reputation as being quality hitches.  If you happen to decide to go with an air ride hitch, I'd go with a Hensley.

If by prepped you mean by factory, Reese makes a 20K and 25K that would fit in. Also, B&W makes one that fits, I think it is now a 20K. I have a B&W in mine, and it is a great hitch. No slop after hitching up, very well built, comes apart in 2 pieces to take out of bed. B&W is also American made.

On a trailer that weight I would not consider anything except an air ride hitch. I personally like the Trailersaver in that application.

A BIG thanks to all that replied. As always this forum helped me is many areas for the FT goal.

I did some research and agree that an air ride hitch is the way to go. I also talked to Aaron at Hensley, but found a one year old BD3 on ebay. I did the buy it now option so I should be ready in time for the TN spring rally. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks again.

Mike

Glad I found this discussion, as I need to replace my stolen fifth wheel hitch. *%#$%*%%$$$$$$ dammit......

I think I should upgrade to an air hitch, and see there are some used ones available.

(truck is an 01 dually--7.3 long bed/crew cab 4x4and the camper is a 02 carriage cameo f34ck)

Any advice on what to look for in a used one?

Would also love some dealer recommendations---who to avoid is probably even more important than who is good!

I'm in Texas just outside of San Antonio, Thanks very much.

That is odd. I tried to sale my hitch, finally gave it to park owner. They have little resale value.

We have been pleased with our Curt 24K. Not much more expensive than a lower capacity hitch, and you are "future proofed",
