Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Swapping in a fantastic fan?

I was suprised to find the bedroom and kitchen fans have remote controls but the bathroom does not. bathroom is all manual..

I see them on ebay for about $200..

Is this a hard swap? looks like 4 screws, break the seal on the roof, remove.. reverse to install? Sound right?

I need to put that cyclone vent on the black tank vent line.. and was thinking rain covers on all 3 fans..

thanks

Yea have 2 of those type.. One in the kitchen , and one in the bedroom..

Want to install one of those kind in the bathroom... I have to manual turn that one to open, and has 4 speeds on it.. Would like to install a automatic w/ remote in the bathroom..

Any issues ripping out the manual one and installing the automatic one?

They all fit the same hole. Did DRV finally upgrade the bathroom fan? Everyone I have ever seen and ours just pulled air into the ceiling area and not the outside air. Worthless

They sell a remote kit for it. Look up the Fantastic Fan website. It's listed there somewhere.

I have the same setup in my DRV (wall switch for entrance and bedroom, manual in bathroom). The bathroom also has an exhaust fan, so I've been trying to figure out why I even need the fantastic fan in there. I've read on these forums that you shouldn't have it on when flushing as it draws up the gases, and I'm probably not in there long enough to make it worth the while of getting up on a step stool to reach the manual knob!

Terry may be able to reply about the ceiling fixtures. I recall him having an issue with the attic vent verse the actual vent tot the outside. You do not need to exhaust the bathroom air into the attic. The humidity will create mold in the attic that will destroy the structure.

Thank you!

Cherylbrv -  where's the exhaust fan? Mine does not have one, I don't think? Isn't that what the fantastic fan is? ? ?

I don't want it on while flushing.. I want it on when sitting though..lol.. then off.. then flush.. then back on.. all from sitting.. yep.. I'm lazy..

You are right.  We have both the manually operated one where one opens the vent first and then turns on the fan.  The other "exhaust" fan has a switch on the wall.  That is the one that we never use because it is prone to only vent into the attic, thus causing problems.  While the larger fan is harder for Jo to reach and operate, we do get by.  If ours ever goes out, then we'll opt for one that has the remote.

Terry

Yes I could never understand DRV rationale on this. It was ineffective and causes issues.

I went with the Fantastic Vent covers.  They actually flow more air.  Compare them side by side. They cost more but hey so does a MS!
