Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

First of all, let me say that I am technically Challenged to say the least. And I don't even know if it possible, but I would like to be able to enlarge some of the Avitar pics. Some are very difficult to see or even make out who or what is in the pic. Can somebody help me with this problem or is it just (my) problem ???

Larry,

I may not be much in the way of help, but here goes anyway.  The avatars have to be very small because of the software's capability.  I don't remember the exact sizes, but they tend to be much less than even just 50 kilobytes.  Because of that, any serious attempt to enlarge the image to see it better will be "iffy," depending on how one looks at the images.

A couple of things come to mind that one can do, but they require additional software, outside of the forums themselves.  One can place their mouse cursor over the image and to a "right-click" on the mouse buttons.  That will give a number of options, of which I'll only deal with two.

One, use the "Copy Image" and click on that option with the left mouse button.  Then, open something like Microsoft word for a new document and then do a "right-click" and choose "Paste" from the options available.  That will place the image "copied" on the document.  Then, one can click on the image to activate it where one can see boxes at the corners and sides.  Put the mouse pointer on the lower right hand corner box, click the left button and hold it, and pull the corner box down and to your right.  If you get too big, the image will pixelate to where it is difficult to see any kind of clear picture.

Secondly, one can click on the right button over the image and select "Save Image As" and save the image into a computer file somewhere on one's hard drive.  Then one can go to the "explorer" on one's computer and find that image and double click on it to make it open in other software.  Enlarging there will do the same as what happens in the document mentioned above, meaning that the image will again "pixelate" to where it still might not be beneficial.

In my own case, I keep a magnifying glass in a cabinet just above my computer station to use for looking at avatars.

Hopefully, someone can come along and give you better options.

Terry

Sounds feasible Terry, Thank-You. I'll give it a try -- if I really want to have a better look. The magnifying seems much more to my liking and being a certain age... I do have one close & handy ( a very large one )! Thanks again.

On a PC, pressing CTL and "+" will enlarge everything on the screen (CTL and "-" will decrease it).

Cherylbrv - Hey Thanks a lot, that works pretty easy & even I could do it the 1st time. Pic's do get a bit grainy though. I guess if it don't work for some pic's because of the quality, I can always try the ole magnifying glass trick ( per "Terry"). Thank-You again.

I forgot to mention that you can press the CTL + key as often as needed.

Thanks, Cheryl.  I had forgotten about that procedure.  One can also hold down the "CTRL" key and use the "roller" control on the mouse instead of using "+" and "-" to adjust the size.

Terry

Thanks for all the help folks. Now I think that folks like Cherylbrv & others should have classes @ the RV Parks community rooms for the "Computer Illiterate" or "Computer Brush-up for RV Bums". You know, just something that might peak some ones interest.

But anyway, Thanks a Bunch every body that contributed ... even Lucky Mike. His idea of tipping the head back was really the easiest. lol
