Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

2003 Pace Arrow 35 G??????

So I am looking for a used Class A, about 36 feet.  Since I don't want a 40 footer, there do not seem to be an abundance out there. I found an '08 Winnebago Adventurer, but I worried too much about the price and someone else got it.  There was an 07 National Dolphin that I just did not love... and I ran when I noticed a roof leak and the salesman said "they all do that".

Now I'm looking at a 2003 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 35G. It has 30,000 miles, and the tires were manufactured the 19th week of 2014. It has been stored inside a warehouse. I can't find anything I can't live with.  Not as much closet space as I'd like, but a Splendide and the biggest shower I've seen in a rig this size. There will be 2 adults and four dogs... but two of them together weigh 8 pounds. Three of the dogs are over 10 years old.

Is there anything I should ask about/look for?  Has anyone had experience with this?  It will be my first RV; hoping to go full time summer 2015.

Thanks in advance!

2003 Pace Arrow 35G

Has anyone had any experience with a 2003 Pace Arrow by Fleetwood?  I am looking for a Class A around 36 feet, used.  I have looked at several, but I really like this one. Tires were manufactured about June of this year. Workhorse® Chassis 8.1L Vortex V8 Engine. It has 30,000 miles and has been stored in a warehouse; the previous owner owned a welding company, and he stored it there.

RE: 2003 Pace Arrow 35 G??????

Laura,

As you can see, I've merged your two different threads into one.  This way everyone can see all your comments and questions in one thread instead of two.

I'd say it is a nice looking unit, based on your pictures, but I'm no expert on the motorhomes, so I'll let the others give you advice.  The one thing that would concern me a bit is that it is 11 years old but only has 30,000 miles.   But, not being an expert on motorhomes, that might be normal.

Good luck.

Terry

Laura, it looks real clean. Can you get a bumper to bumper warranty for a year or so? If you could put 5k miles on it without any major problems you ought to be ok. Also have a mechanic go over the engine and transmission.

Welcome to the forum.

36' motorhomes aren't all that rare - Motorhomes of Texas has a couple right now.
motorhomesoftexas.com/coachrv/foretravel/1997--u295--36--C1755
motorhomesoftexas.com/coachrv/foretravel/1999--u270--36--P1176

BTW, the C in the stock number means consignment, while the P means they own it. The U295 is the mid-level trim, while the U270 is the base level.

The factory also has:
www.foretraveloftexas.com/view-inventory.php
www.foretraveloftexas.com/view-inventory.php

The Foretravel is a much higher level coach than Pace Arrow, so you may be looking at a higher initial price for an older coach. On the other hand, you are getting a diesel pusher with air suspension. Since you mentioned full-timing I'd strongly suggest going with the DP.

Just flipped through some of the pic's............Looks like it was a very well kept and very clean unit. 30,000 miles in 11 years isn't out of line, that's on average of 2,700 mile per year. So if didn't travel too extensive it could be about right.

Sometimes you'll see low mile older units but they've basically been "Parked & Lived In" full time like a house. Those type are usually run down from wear & tear and neglected.

Try signing up for this mini-course at RVT: www.rvt.com/how-to-buy-an-rv.php I have never had a problem with spam from them and I have signed up for notifications from them on types of units that we might be interested in. I was impressed by the information that was provided especially for free and without being spammed. Also, I have and like the book: "Buying a Used Motorhome" by Bill Meyers, it suggests a few units but gives tips on what to look for in general.

 Bernie,

The forum software looks for "questionable" links and sometimes lists a comment as "Spam Comment."  Then it requires either a moderator or administrator to "approve" the comment.  In this case, I had to approve the original posts, including the one I merged with this one.  Apparently, when you "quoted" the original post, the forum software again looked at the link and listed them as "Spam Comment."  Both of your posts that included the original posting as a quote have now been approved.

As a moderator, I think that I can see "Spam Comment" posts where others can't see them until they have been approved.

Since you brought this up, if anyone notices that a comment that they made didn't post and there is a link or two in it, you might send one of the moderators (Genecop or myself) a private message and have us check them.  In honesty, even though I'm now retired, I still find enough stuff to do that I mostly only get on the forum once or twice a day for moderating.  In other words, I ask for your patience.

Terry
