Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello all. New here. I have a budget of $7800 specifically for a solar system (panels, charger), an inverter and AGM batteries and I'm looking to get the most power and reliability I can for that money. Does anyone have any recommendations on components or advice on what to avoid? Also, I like the thin flexible solar panels concept and would welcome any thoughts or suggestions on them.
First of all, welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find this to be a good source for answers to questions. There are a lot of folks here with the knowledge that you are looking for, and I'm pretty sure they will be glad to help you out.
For your research purposes, check out the "Boondocking, Solar Power, and and Related Items" category of the threads. Jack Mayer has a website where you can gain a lot of knowledge about solar.
Good luck with your research.
Terry

$7800 is a good budget for a higher end system. If you do the work yourself you should be able to put in quite a good system.....It all depends on what you have now, and how much power you need. If you tell us more about that then you will get more targeted help.....

We are delving into flexible panels ourselves right now.. and are sharing our research on it at www.technomadia.com/solar. We have sample panels in from all of the major manufacturers, and are running head to head testing on them in a variety of conditions.
Too soon to share any results... but stay tuned :)
