Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We just purchased a new Bighorn 5th wheel and the only thing (so far) that I have found that's a problem is that there is no AC outlet on the wall above the kitchen counter...you know...where you would usually plug in a coffee pot or crock pot etc.
Is this a DIY project to add an outlet or do we need to have it done by an electrician or RV tech?
Thanks,
Carol

You probably should get a proffessional to do this job.....By the time you get everything needed, snakes, wire, outlet, drills, bits, saw, and so on, it will cheaper to pay a pro....
I really know nothing about the Bighorn trailers, so I don't know how they are equipped. You might look up at the underside of any cabinet you have over that counter to see if there is an outlet located there. On our Mobile Suites, our microwave/convection oven and a compartment for storage is above our range/counter top. We have an outlet and some other electrical things there as well.

We have a Big Horn. Ours has plenty of outlets in the kitchen. One of them is positioned as in Terry's picture, on the underside of the cabinet beside the microwave. Two are positioned on the wall above another counter. One is between the sink and a drawer in the peninsula. What model is your Big Horn?

I was going to suggest the same........That's how our Motorhome is.
If there is nothing though you should seek an actual electrician for assistance if you're not sure what to do. It can be a difference of "burning down the house" or not.
Thanks everyone. We don't have the coach at home yet...I was just looking at pictures of the RV online and couldn't see any outlets and it got me thinking. The model is 2015 3570 RL.
Thanks Kev....I'm sure I am worrying for nothing since we have the same floorplans. I couldn't imagine that they wouldn't put in outlets on that side of the kitchen.
Once again this forum has been so helpful. Thanks again everyone.

I had an outlet by the range hood and just snaked another wire over to the other side of the kitchen cabinet and added another outlet.....took about 30 minutes.
I ran a wire from an outlet in the outside storage bay through the floor in the kitchen cabinet and then installed an AC outlet beside the silverware drawer right under the counter top.
That was much easier than trying to figure out how to get up through the wall above the couinter top. This has turned out to be the best and most useful modification I have made to my motorhome. I use it to plug up a mixer, a vacuum cleaner, an iron, a crock pot, and a coffee grinder. There was already an outlet under the upper cabinet for the coffee pot.

Don't worry, I have a 2015 Bighorn 3010re and there is an outlet positioned exactly as in Terry's picture. It is under the cabinet, next to the light and microwave. It's where I plug my coffee pot in too. Works great! Good luck with your new Bighorn, we love, love, love ours!
