Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

The Mobile Internet Handbook 2014

This book was recommended to help me figure out how to outfit a new (to me) fifth wheel and understand what's possible while living in an RV. Better yet, it gave me the info to know what's economically practical, given the tech constraints. I have nothing to do with the book other than my purchase of it for my own use. The handbook is awesome and I recommend it to anyone struggling to pull disparate pieces together to create an RV IT plan based on best practices and user needs. I need good IT to keep my business running while going into the RV full-time lifestyle.

Thanks to the authors for putting this together; I love your sense of humor!

I agree. Chris and Cherie did a great job. I highly recommend this book. It has just been released and it contains the latest and most complete information available on the topic of Mobile Internet.

Can you touch on what the book might have that is not on peoples blogs/websites or forums?

Below is the description of the book that is posted on the Technomadia website at:

http://www.technomadia.com/2014/08/announcing-the-mobile-internet-handbook-for-kindle-ibooks-and-pdf/

The book covers cellular data, public WiFi, satellite, ham, cable/DSL, enhancing signals, installation, managing bandwidth, traveling to Canada & Mexico, entertainment options, cellular phone plans and most importantly – setting your expectations for what life on the road with mobile internet is like.

The book is written for the non-technical internet surfer to the high-tech geek – we strive to balance using every day language and examples to explain complex topics, while keeping things technically accurate.

Aww.. thanks guys. I was just poking in here to post an announcement of our new baby! Such a blessing to see others beat us to it. :)

We've worked all summer to compile tons of research and experience, and teamed up with Jack Mayer on this book. He wrote a chapter on Antennas and Installation.

You can get all of the information at our brand new RV Mobile Internet Resource Center at:

http://www.rvmobileinternet.com/book

Part way down the page is a free preview, that shows the table of contents for the 186 page book... hopefully that will help showcase how comprehensive the book is.

The eBook was just released yesterday for Kindle, iBooks and PDF (it had been in 'early release' in just PDF format before that). The print edition is coming soon.. we're just awaiting our proofs to be delivered!

 - Cherie

PS. Our new RV Mobile Internet Resource Center is also where we'll be reporting on mobile internet news topics and analyzing them specifically for RVers. And we also have a lot of free content on the 'Resources' page - guides, tips, videos and articles. The website is meant to compliment the book and keep it 'alive' as technology continues to evolve and change.

Steve, all the information is probably scattered around the Internet someplace. In some form. Some is on my website. But the unique thing about this book is it is all in one place, CURRENT information, and easy for a novice to read. Plus, come on, for under $10 you can afford the risk, can't you? It will save you far more than that. IMO.

Another great Technomadia contribution to our dream life-style. Got our Kindle version - we're already smarter!

We already get a lot of valuable information from forums just on our prep stage, and expect to continue to do so when we're on the road. However, having a resource book seems particularly prudent when the topic is the internet. I'm thinking the forums might be a challenging option when I'm working on my internet connection....just sayin' .

Thanks again to Chris and Cherie for the updated handbook!!
