Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Still trying to decide.

We're a few years away from retiring. We live in Colorado and we'd spend a lot of time driving to Canada to see family and friends. I am a wanderer, so living full time in an RV would suit me just fine. But my wife is not so sure. We're going to take the first step and rent an RV for a few days, maybe a week, to try it out. If that goes well, we'll be looking at buying something.

And that leads me to my questions. I have a bunch of them, and I'm not sure where to ask them. Is this the right place?

Definitely the right place to ask questions....very knowledgeable and friendly group here!! The search feature is also good for getting questions answered; I use that a lot as well!! Along with renting an RV, also check out an RV show or large dealership to get an idea of the different models and options. You may find an option that you like and works for you...but not one that is in a typical rental fleet.

Shawn,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  You will find that this is an excellent source for information about RV'ing and the full-time lifestyle.  It is even a good source if one is only going to RV on a part time basis.  Feel free to ask your questions about RV's and the RV lifestyle, and you will get answers from folks that have or are RV'ing in all kinds of RV's.  Oh, and there are no "dumb" questions, because the only dumb ones are those that don't get asked and then one has either expensive or time consuming mistakes.

Welcome!! It's pretty common for one spouse to become committed before the other in this process. I love that your renting first..great way to start. This is a great group, but IMHO nothing beats actual experience in an RV for determining whether or not you will like the lifestyle.

Shawn,

Welcome! As others have said this is the PERFECT place to ask questions with lots of friendly folks on here helping each other. I'd suggest introducing your wife to this forum as well to use the search feature about her concerns and when she's ready, to ask her own questions. And when you get serious, we recommend going to an RVDreams Rally! They are beyond informative, friendly and fun!

Sherry

We were also in the not so sure phase...we went to the RV Dreams Rally in April and it was so informative...in our case it was wife who wanted to go all in and hubby who was not so sure. After attending the rally, we realized that there is no right or wrong way...we have decided to be "half time/full timers" we will keep a modest DW Manufactured home in Florida for the winter and as our "home base", then travel 5-6 mos out of the year in the year May thru October. For us this is a good way to compromise...we figured we would want to be somewhere warm in the winter anyway, so just sharing that the seminar really helped us out!
