Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Been checking out the site the past few days and decided to join. My DW and I live in Elkhart, Indiana and want to get out on the road in the next 3-5 years. Our plans are to spend the winter in Florida on the Gulf side and travel during the summer months.
We have been RV’ing (camping) since 2005 when we decided to get a camper, I wanted to get tents and sleeping bags, and my better half said we needed a bathroom and a bed. We looked at few travel trailers and bought a used one. We have never looked back. We go as much as we can, we try to get out every other weekend and at least 3 week or longer trips, and we never want to come home.
Every day we work on the plan to get out and full time. Every week is one week closer!
Hoping this forum will get us closer to our dream.
Welcome Steve & Dara. We are following a relatively similar time line with a current target start date in 2019. We are also only a couple hours west of you in southwest Chicagoland. What we have found however, is it doesn't matter how far away you are, on here we have found a lot of friendly folks and lots of useful info and support. Let the good times roll!!

A warm welcome, Steve and Dara! We leave Texas on the 13th and will be picking up our 5er in your backyard! Not literally, but at Tiara RV. You can never begin preparations too early. This has been our dream for 3.5 years and our time is finally here. Best of luck and, again, welcome!
thank you for the welcome- looking forward to learning as much as I can. Jo and Craig- my friends just bought a Montana from Tiara, they were very happy with them. if you like micro breweries check out: Iechyd Da! they have great beer and pizza.
Welcome! I grew up north of you in Cassopolis. Had cousins in Elkhart and would love to get back to visit the RV Museum. You can never start planning too early as there is SO much to learn and sort through.
S and D: That's one of the neat things about the world of RVing, verifying that it is a "small world after all". When we were staying long term in AL in a park, our neighbor who worked on post with my husband turned out to be from South Bend and we were born in the same hospital just 2 years apart! I had forgotten how interesting it is to make such connections, meeting people states and states away only to find a common starting point or intersection along the way. I haven't been "home" in 40 years but some day.
it is cool- we are meeting friends for dinner Thursday that are at the Forest River rally at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds. both are from out of state, we camper together several times when we had our Flagstaff TT. email is great for keeping in touch, when we get together its like we saw each other last week.
