Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Ok....um, from the pictures I've seen of Quartzsite, I'm not getting what the attraction is.
Is it all about the commeraderie, the social side of 90% of the rv'rs in the country all parked in the desert? Or am I seeing bad pictures? Is it more, or something else altogether that I am missing?
It's just not the most beautiful place to hang out for the winter as far as I've seen!
For us it's 2 things. We enjoyed our time in Q BEFORE the huge crowd came in and we were pretty much alone. Closest camper could be seen but not heard. And of course we enjoyed meeting with a couple groups and then the camaraderie kicked in.
And I didn't mind the views of the mountains, rides in the jeep on the trails and walks in the desert. Everyplace has it's own beauty.
It's certainly not something I could do for and entire season like some. But for a couple weeks or so we enjoy it. Me more than Diane however.
I grew up too near the desert to appreciate it, however the sunsets are great! And I guess the party atmosphere could kick in and I wouldn't even notice I was in the desert anymore.

I'm thinking we may go in January even though we won't have a rig until April. My dad retired to a S&B in Quartzsite so I've been there at all times of year. The crowds are nuts but if you go with the right attitude it's as fun as you make it. It's a ghost town in the summer, and downtown Manhattan in the winter.....
If someone was going to go there fo 1 month.. Which Month would it be?
I guess it depends on what you are looking for. We sent the end of Nov. and a chunk of Dec. there and had a nice quiet time. We left for a couple weeks and went back in mid January and the big RV Tent Event was under way and the place was pretty darn busy. We spent a week and then left for a month and went back for a couple weeks in Feb. and it was pretty quiet again.
I personally prefer the quiet times but the Big Tent Event was on our RV bucket list so just had to do it. No real need to do it again but I would.

Yes. :)
You go to meet up with friends and hang out in the desert. And if you don't have friends that go, no worries- just mention on a forum or two that you don't know anyone and you will get multiple invitations to meet up. We add new people to our group every year.
And Junkman, if you want to be there when everyone else is, you'll want to be there for the Big Tent RV show, roughly the last two weeks in January.
We will be there. Plans aren't final yet, but maybe for a week or two in Nov, coming back for Christmas - mid Jan, will leave as the big RV show ramps up due to data bandwidth being horrible during the show and needing to work. Then we might come back for part of March, main reason we're coming back in March is that we're planning a cruise in Feb and we figure we'll spend enough on vacation that we'll appreciate really cheap camping for part of March to try to replenish our savings account.
