Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Amazon in Nevada

We are looking at applying to Amazon in Nevada for next fall. Has anyone worked in the Nevada location and if so what camp grounds did they use and what were the conditions like. We are considering Nevada as it will be close to Quartzite where we want to winter.

Les, are you on Facebook? There is an Amazon Camperforce page there where there is a lot of discussion about the campgrounds and conditions at the various sites. Also you could post your question there and you would get a number of responses I'm sure. :)

Amazon is in Fernley Nevada, somewhat close to Reno, and much colder than Vegas.

Amazon's HQ is in Seattle WA. But they have warehouses in many places around the country. At some of their warehouses they hire RVers for seasonal or temporary help. It is warehouse work, physically demanding. Three warehouse locations where I know they hire RVers are Fernley NV, Coffeeville KS and Campbellsville KY.

We stopped for one night last (unexpectedly due to wind) Sept in Fernley NV at the Desert Rose (used our PA discount) and talked to a few locals about their Amazon jobs. They were already complaining of the constant wind and cold temps and that was in mid-Sept. The RV park itself seemed pretty reasonable without a lot of frills. Laundry facilities were clean. Not sure I would want to winter there, especially when getting out of there after the holiday season would mean crossing a pass or two to get further south. Donner Pass on I-80 had chains required the night we stopped in Fernley, that and the horrible winds were our reason for stopping for one night, the next day was clear sailing but I certainly wasn't expecting chains required in mid-Sept.

Check out Vegas.. Best weather in the country in the winter. in my opinion. Go up on the mountain if you want snow..

They must pay better than 12.50 up in Fernley ?

Fernley is full-up for CamperForce 2014. Only 4 locations use CamperForce personnel...Fernley NV., Campbillsville KY., Coffeyville KS. and new this year, Murfreesboro, TN. But if you check the Amazon site it lists seasonal jobs in many locations.

Thanks folks for the info. Jessica we are not on Facebook but Sue has been signed up for the Camper force updates. One of items we were hoping to get info on is if you pay for electric at the Fernley sites or if it is included in the package. Looks like you need to commit early for Fernley.

You pay for your own electric at Fernley, but it pays $11.50/hr as opposed to $10/hr at Campbellsville.

They do not cover electric in Fernley, and none of the locations pay for propane. Also note that RV parking in Fernley is extremely limited, Sparks and Reno are about 30 miles away. We may try to get into Fernley next year as it's closer to us in California. We did Sep-Nov 2009 and Apr-Oct 2013 in Kansas.
