Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We moved into the RV last night! It is still in the backyard of the S&B house, though. Tomorrow, we will move to the local KOA campground. The movers will be here Thursday to move the stuff we are storing into the environmentally controlled storage area. Monday is our closing day! We are praying for a smooth closing. This is all happening so fast, and as I had posted once before, it is scary! Dodie didn't sleep well last night worrying about all we still have to do. Her back has been bothering her (I wonder why!) and she can't work as much or as hard as she would like. For that matter, neither one of us can work like we could 30 years ago. 12 hours and we are pooped!
As we haul stuff from the house to the RV, I keep thinking...how much weight am I adding? Will we exceed gross weight ratings? I sure hope not. After leaving the KOA, we will go by some scales and see what we weigh!
I just got a satellite dish and tripod and learned how to set it up ( I hope!).
After Monday and the closing, I go back to work to finish July. On August 1st, I'll officially be retired! We are planning to stay at the KOA until the middle of August and then hit the road. Hopefully that should give us plenty of time to take care of last minute business. We bought a new truck, so I still have to install the items that I took off of the other truck. There's an air compressor that mounts under the truck, a TPMS, GPS and brackets for my kayak rack. I'll probably be doing all that work at the KOA.
So much to do, so much to do! However, it will soon be over! :)
Congrats Joe!! How well I remember all the last minute things to do. One day you will look back and laugh and then wonder "how the heck did we do all that in such a short time????" And, congrats on the pending retirement, we're a long way from that day, but maybe, just maybe, with the reduced expenses and increased saving we will retire early!!
Congrats!! Could you please send a photo of your kayak set up? We are fulltime now but have to find a way to bring the kayak along. We came back to the S&B to finish up a few things.
Hey Steve, there are a bunch of photos of my kayak rack on Picasa. However, this site won't let me post any links so you'll have to type it in. It is: https://picasaweb.google.com/115733985076740787946/TruckMods
In picture #1, that bracket turned out to be a bit too springy, so I welded a piece of 1/4" X 3" flat bar between the two sides to make it stiffer. When I get a "round-2-it", I'lll change that pic.
Congratulations , on your venture. Hope everything falls into place an good luck is always with you. Can't wait until we can post that we are starting our fulltime adventure. Once again good luck & God bless.
Yesterday the movers took away the little we had left and took it to storage. We also moved our 5er to our local KOA, so we are officially full timers! Monday, I go back to work for 9 days and then I'll be retired! We are sooo close! I updated my blog, too!

I guess the topic of this post could be changed to "There"! We have been full timing since Thursday, 7/17/14. Whoo Hoo! Now, retirement on 7/31 and we can go wherever we feel like going!
