Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We left Elkhart IN early Monday morning. Hit Deadwood SD this morning. Looks like I'll have to catch my breath here for a couple of days.....since they have casinos. Y'all don't have to worry, Pam won't let me out of her sight.
If anyone else is on this journey, maybe we could share it here.
Finally, word on your progress. On RVillage you are still tagged in Elkhart (Ebys Pines). Guess you'll need to update that. Where do you plan to cross into Canada? And yes, we need pix or it didn't happen
Brian

If you get a chance to try a Musk Ox burger, do it. I saw it once, in Talkeetna, but my wife wasn't in the mood that day and we thought we would see it again. We did not see it on the menu again. You will have lots of chances to eat reindeer, mostly sausage, salmon and halibut.

Will do on the Musk Ox burger, hope it comes with cheese and fries. LOL
Not sure about Verizon but with AT&T we added coverage for the time we needed. It was a lot less than with no plan. Wife was just in Canada for a few days and it was $1.00 per minute without plan. We did not add it for just the few days she was there.
For Verizon, I was told that only if you are on the Share Everything plan you can add Canada. Otherwise they have to switch you to Share Everything. You still won't have cell phone service for much of the Alaskan Highway or Cassiar, but most Canadians won't have service either.

Yo Red. I'm right there in the seat next to you in spirit. I'm a little uncomfortable that you don't plan to drop bread crumbs. How will you find your way back? If it wasn't for this whole internet addiction thing, BFFs and LOLs I could get attached to the Canadian and Alaskan wilderness.

.... Headed to the battle of Little Bighorn today...
Spoiler alert, the Indians won.
We drove through it today for the second time. Took a walking trail we didn't take 3 yrs ago. Had a great time.
We are staying at 7th Ranch RV camp. It is just SE of the battle field, we climbed a hill at the park and could see the battle field 2 miles to the NE. FYI very nice RV park.
Gosh Red y'all are gonna miss all the Texas heat. We will sure be thinkin about ya. Send us some pics and tell us all about it, we sure hope to make that trip someday.

Life's too short - live it so you can say "remember when" not "I wish we had".
We leave the TX heat on Sunday and head to Alaska. First stopping at Yellowstone for a few days. I called Verizon about cell coverage in Canada. Told $.89 a minute but texting is free on our plan. Will surely using whatever available WiFi we can find and not our 4GLTE mifi. But once in Alaska our current plan is back in effect.
We also called DirecTV. Said won't get service in Canada but will in Alaska. That's strange considering it comes from a satellite.
Wondering also about Sirius Radio.
Come on coolness of Alaska, can't take this Texas heat.
Good morning! We've made it to Ft. Nelson, BC. It's mile 300 on the Alcan Hwy. We're having a blast and enjoying all the sites. We'll post some pictures when we get a better internet connection.
Wishing we were there. But we're not jealous or anything like that..... Naaah! We have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale if you're interested. Rock the house, errr, coach Red.
Thanks Brian and Kyle. We're in Haines Alaska. We took a sightseeing boat trip on Thursday, we got to see sea lions, bald eagles and had humpback whales come close to the boat.......very cool. Headed back out this morning for king salmon fishing.
Where is the rig parked?Did you leave it in Whitehorse or take it down the mountain to Skagway?Perhaps you took the train down to Skagway? That’s a fabulous train ride if you have time.Scenery you can’t see from Rt 98.I believe it is considered by some to be one of the top train rides in the world by some. ‘Curious about your route
You guys are having the trip everyone who travels in an RV should take.
Looking forward to returning ourselves before long.I take it the rig is doing fine.
Bill, the rig is great. We are in Haines, AK. The town is throwing a salmon bake tonight at Dalton City "a city park" where they filmed White Fang, about 1/2 mile from our RV park. Yes we took the train out of Fraser BC "I think" to Skagway. It was great.
Red, I hope ya'll like Haines. My stepdad was born there and still has family in town. It's been a few years since my parents made the trip. He was 75 the last time they made it to Haines. They drove from Louisiana to Haines several summers in their class c. I think their last trip to Alaska was Hyder when he was about 78. They still do short trip at 87 years young. It is just harder to do longer trips. It is on our bucket list to do.
Speaking of family in Alaska, Jo's family had one person that moved to Alaska and sought gold. If you've ever heard of Fannie and Joe Quigley, Joe was the family member. Jo's sister is in possession of a letter from a "Joe Quigley" that wrote of being in Alaska. When we took our cruise in 2005, we did a cruise and land tour. Royal Caribbean had some association with a housing facility right out of Denali National Park. While in there, we noticed references to Fannie and Joe, including pictures of the two of them. While we can't be absolutely certain that their Joe Quigley was related to Jo's family, he certainly had a familial resemblance to some of the other Quigleys in the lower 48.
One never knows what one will find in their travels.

We just visited the Joe n Fannies cabin in Denali this past Monday. We also took the bus/train to Skagway from Whitehorse a couple of weeks ago. Kind of lost in time and cannot remember all of the dates from everything we have done. This is day 40 of our Alaskan adventure. Currently in Palmer till Friday and then heading to Ninilchik for a couple of weeks of fishing.
