Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Just an FYI for the dog lovers out there to be aware of the potential side effects associated with the use of the Heartworm medication ProHeart 6.
Unknown to us this medication was removed from shelves due to numerous reactions to it in 2004 and re-allowed on a resticted basis in 2008. We unwittingly had Josie medicated with this after switching from another product (which we will be going back to) and she is now at the vet under observation after having anaphylactic reaction to it. We're on pins and needles awaiting word from the vet, who said he was fairly sure Josie would be okay, but that never seems like enough of a reassurance. Fingers crossed.
Oh my gosh, that is terrible! I will pray for your puppy! It makes me not want to give this stuff to our dog at all!

Josie the Wonder Beagle is back, still a bit sleepy from the anti-histamine they gave to counter the reaction. Should be back to her friendly self by the end of the day. Whew.
Thanks to all for your concern and best wishes.
PS: changed our Avatar pix to show her in one of her more playful moments.

Heartworm diseases in dogs are among some of the silent killers if untreated over a period of time. The disease begins with a mosquito bite carrying the larvae of heartworm disease. It is recommended to prevent disease at its initial stage before it gets too late. Fortunately, lots of medication has been in market to prevent such disease. Trifexis https://www.petcarerx.com/trifexis/22843 has been a very good option in the treatment of heartworm disease. Within a week you can observe the impact of the drug on your pet’s health.
I am sad to hear this and glad it turned out okay.
It was one of my concerns when I found my sidekick Jagger a couple of years ago. Since I travel full time all over the USA in remote areas, a heart medication and one for fleas and ticks were a must. I wouldn't take chances on him getting one of these terrible diseases or passing it to me. After my vet recommended Heartgard and NexGard, I researched online. I did find negative info, but at least they seemed to be one of the better ones. Not cheap for sure!
He has been taking them for several years now and seems to tolerate them fine. Also for the first time I chose to buy vet insurance for Jagger. Again traveling as we do he is exposed to all kinds of things, that he wouldn't be at home and I can't afford a $5000 vet bill.
