Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The DW and I are shopping for our first MH to go FTing. We're making the big leap from no camper to full time in one giant step - and we know it's gonna' work out fine.
We were set on buying a used Tiffin, either a 40' Phaeton ('10 - '11) or a 40' Allegro Bus ('08 - '09). We had heard lots of good things about Tiffin and their after sale service. We love the Tiffin floor plans and most of their interior decors.
Recently a dealer we had previously contacted about used rigs told us he had a 2006 42' Monaco Dynasty Diamond IV coming in on trade. According to them this rig has just about every option that was available that year. They sold it new with an MSRP over $500K in '06 and now they're getting it back. It has 80k on the odometer. And of course they say it's in excellent shape (no surprise there). We haven't discussed price at all. From the brochure this looks like a fine rig (then again any competent marketing team can make nearly anything look good).
I know Monaco went bankrupt and is now part of the Fleetwood family. We know this is a pre-bankruptcy Monaco with no warranty. That said we have a few questions that we hope this forum can help us with.
First of all, did the old Monaco build a quality coach?
Are there any known issues with this year/model?
Can anyone comment on the general build quality of the 2006 Dynasty's?
Should we be concerned about parts availability or service with this unit?
Anything else we should know about in relation to this rig?
Monaco made quality coaches, especially higher end units like a Dynasty. A 2006 would not have a warranty even from a current brand, so being an orphan is really not that much of a problem.
