Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Any Canadian travelers out there that can shed some light on this would be great. What do you do for healthcare when traveling throughout Canada and US?

Are riders on your insurance available for outside the country or do you have to buy a policy stateside?

Though I am not Canadian, I was just in such a discussion with some Canadian's yesterday. They kept mentioning the Canadian Snowbird Association, http://www.snowbirds.org/home, for insurance and support.

I used to live in Ontario many years ago and I know things have changed a bit over the years. I see you call Saskatchewan home, so this may be a starting point for your research:

Just make sure you get something. Had 2 incidents in the USA....both a bunch of $.....would be sunk without coverage. Cost about 1000 up for 6 months depending on age and ailments. Used AIG sold at Superstore (had a $25000 claim they handled great), Manulife a couple of times and CSA Medipac ($1000+ claim again without problems). Every summer we get about 10-12 quotes and go with the cheapest.

EDIT:  Most plans require that you buy the policy while in Canada.  You also must have coverage from the time you leave your home province (not when you leave Canada) til you return to your home province.   Most plans do not have provisions for returning to Canada mid trip (eg Xmas) but your agent should be able to work around that if they know that is your plan.
