Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi folks, We are Doug and Christina from beautiful Elizabethtown,NY. We live in the Adirondack Mountains of northern Ny. We have been camping together for close to 30 yrs and have always loved it. Our youngest of 3 kids has 2 more years of college and we're in this holding pattern, just waiting for him to get out on his own. We just don't want to make the kid homeless! We purchased about camper #10 last Aug but its our first 5th wheel. We bought a 2014 Raptor 332ts toy hauler. We like to ride motorcycles and camp with two dogs. We've been asking a lot of full timing questions in the 3 Facebook sites that we are on but we are really looking forward to the new that we will meet in these forums.
I lived several years in Brockport, between Buffalo & Rochester. We LOVED camping in the Adirondacks! We were surprised how few people seemed to go there. Rollins Pond was one of our favorites. Sounds like a nice trailer. If you make it out to CA, there are lots of beautiful places to ride.
You'll get a lot of good info looking over this site.
I just recently posted my wife Mary's and my "Introduce Yourself" posting. I grew up in Cooperstown. My maternal grandparents had a camp about 7 miles outside of Old Forge. I love the Adirondack Mountains and plan to visit there in our travels. We live in Texas now.

hi there!
this board is fabulously generous with info and details---you've come to the right place!
we're Vermonters, and living full time in our fifth wheel since November.
if you have a toy hauler you're boy won't be homeless, you're simply trading real estate for wheel estate!
I've camped all through NY, but not sure how a 36 ft 5er will maneuver the roads and fit in the campgrounds? Most were quite small from what I remember. Can a 5er fit in most of the DEC and State campgrounds?
My son and his family live in Cortland and they are avid campers. I'll have to rely on his assessment of places in the area but from looking at some near Cooperstown, they seem to be able to handle us. Now the Adirondacks themselves, that will be an adventure.
Welcome, Doug and Christina from another native! I grew up in AuSable Forks so I know the area well! :) My mom still lives there, so we go up to the Adirondacks every summer for a couple weeks to visit (we stay in Peru).
This is a great place to find answers for your questions! Enjoy the planning!

It's a small world, we can't wait to get out on the road. We have always tried to get as much travel and adventure as a "normal" life will allow but it just ain't cuttin' it!

We have camped at Fish Creek Pond for 13 straight years now on Columbus Day weekend and that's always our last camping trip of the year. Some years we're in shorts and t-shirts up there and some years in snows...gotta love the ADK's!

We lived in Palatine Bridge, NY for 11 years and we used to tour down to Cooperstown sometimes just for the evening. We've been to the Hall of Fame and Farmer's Museum more times that I can count and it's one of our favorite little towns. We can't wait for our next chapter!

Our 5er is almost 38' and it's a tight fit in most of the state parks up here!

I've been to Cooperstown once and was bored to tears by the baseball museum but I'm not a baseball fan so that doesn't count for anything but you're very welcome to this site with tons of passionate, helpful RVers.

Hey Pierre, we sure do know all of those places well and have camped at both of those campgrounds too. I had a great aunt that lived up there in Standish. I lived in Redford for a while too.
