I have a 2002 Monaco Monarch with a Triton V10 and 36K on the engine. The only thing I have heard about is the engine having trouble with blowing out spark plugs. You might google about it. We bought it used a few years ago and so far it has run fine for us. I have all the repair records from the original owner and nothing regarding engine repairs. Just for a price comparison I paid 25K for it (32 foot with 2 slides) 3 1/2 years ago not including tax. Best of luck with your decision.

Also look in the Classified section here - I believe there is someone selling a 1999 or 2000 Monaco.

With only 18,500 miles in 14 years, this motorhome has not been used. That is not good and there are sure to be lots of problems due to neglect and lack of usage. If you are handy, have patience and can get it cheap, it might be a good buy.

Bill, just curious -- wouldn't there be more problems if it was used a lot more, such as a lot more wear and tear of parts? Why is it bad to not have been used, especially if it was stored indoors or covered so it wasn't exposed to the elements?

Seals dry out, dust accumulates in odd places, oil settles into the low spots leaving the high spots to rust, rubber is not flexed and thus gets hard and brittle, pieces bond together like they were welded and won't come apart, it can be really ugly. There are many RV techs who tell their friends, "don't buy something that has sat for a long time and ask me to help you fix it."

so in other words, if you need to buy used, make sure it has lots of miles on it?

Or, is not too old. Look at the age and history and if you are lucky enough to find a one owner RV, be sure and ask them questions about their usage of the RV and their maintenance of it as well.

Yes, maintenance. Many parts are supposed to have maintenance annually (or xxx miles or annually for engines and transmissions). It is very common for those who are not using an RV to ignore the "annually" and do no maintenance, for years.
