Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We've been lurking on the RV-Dreams site for several months now and I guess it's time to join the fun. Meg and I are in the Wannbe/Gonnabe 5rs class, who are planning to make the move to fulltime later this year. We're retiring from our local school district in August and we're planning to put the "sticks and bricks" on the market as soon a we get some fixer-upper stuff done and the weather warms.
Meg is in the Purchasing Dept for the district and I have been assistant manager/dispatcher for the transportation department, sometimes a school bus driver if I can't locate a willing sub. We've been married for 48 years now and we're looking forward to spending more years on the road seeing and further discovering our beautiful country.
When our house sells we'll be purchasing a 5th wheel and probably a Ford F-450. The coach comes first then the truck.
We're located in Moscow, Idaho and plan on following summer around the country as the local seasons change.
What we have come to realize is that there is a tremendous amount to learn about fulltiming and all the related issues. It's going to be much different than packing up the camper and heading out into the mountains for a week to go fishing.
Lots to learn and we appreciate all the help we can get from all of you experienced folks on the RV-Dreams site.

"plan on following summer around the country as the local seasons change". We prefer following spring, summer is too hot.
I spent part of my misspent college time in Moscow, in the days when you could drink at 19 in Idaho. We would drive over from Washington State University in Pullman to have a beer or two or three, who's counting. We also attended Life on Wheels on the University of Idaho grounds three times. Too bad Life on Wheels no longer exists, it would have been so convenient for you.
Anyway, enjoy the planning and studying.

Bill,
These days things haven't changes much here in the Palouse Country. The biggest difference is that now the students drive from Moscow to Pullman because marijuana has been legalized in Washington State. Who wants to drink beer when you can smoke weed while you're in college.
Actually, I knew Gaylord Maxwell way back before he passed away. He moved to this area back in the 70's and built quite a house out in the Deary area. At the time I was the county building inspector and worked with him on his new home.
We never took the opportunity to attend Life on Wheels because at the time we were a long way from retirement and full timing. I wish we had, it would have given us a jump start on our upcoming adventures.
We're looking forward to attending the Spokane RV Show later this month. I wish that there was going to be coaches from DRV Mobile Suites at the show but there is no dealer in the Spokane area. The closest is in Pasco, WA abotu a 250 mile drive, round trip

Welcome to the best RV forum! Back in the dark ages we too lived in Pullman and like Bill drove to Moscow for a drink on rare occasions but mostly I was pregnant in those days so couldn't drink. If you ever ate at a tiny sandwich shop in Pullman with truly incredible homemade pies I was the pregnant waitress serving you! My brother in law was a defensive tackle for WSU.
We look forward to having you join us all on the road!
Sherry

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. Since you've been lurking for some time, this is a welcome to being an active member instead of "hiding behind the curtains." Glad to have you as a part of the family.
I don't know if you've ever seen a mention of them, but also check out a couple of other forum sites where the DRV products are either the primary product or the one that gets the most attention. SOITC (Suites Owners International Travel Club) is an association of DRV Suites owners or potential owners. It is a site where I spent a lot of time researching for our Mobile Suites. Jo and I researched RV's for over 2 years before making our final decision. The other site is 5th Wheel Forums, which is a site that covers a lot of brands, but DRV Suites section of the forums gets the lion's share of the activity.
I always caution folks that go to owners association forums to be aware that a lot of folks go there looking for a solution to a problem. That can easily give the impression that "brand-x" is not a good brand. However, I always recommend interested parties to register and ask their own questions. One that I recommend asking is: "If you were to purchase another RV, would you purchase the "brand-x" model again, and if so, why?" You would be surprised of the number of folks that have had problems will say they would still buy the same brand again.
Feel free to ask questions as we all tend to learn from each other, and there are no "dumb" questions. The only "dumb" ones are those not asked and thus one makes an expensive or time-consuming mistake.
If you are looking at DRV's, check out the website of Rolling Retreats. That is a dealership that is literally a mom and pop operation, and they deal primarily with DRV Suites models and the only other SOB's (some-other-brands) are those that are traded in for a DRV Suites product. NWescapee (Ruth and Dale) are originally out of Washington state and purchased a 2010 like ours from Rolling Retreats. Also, if you get REALLY serious about the DRV Suites products, I have some referral certificates that lets a purchaser get one of up to four options free.

Looking for helpful tips as we are NEWBIES!!!
Welcome, Richard and Nina.
Once you begin to have questions to ask, always try to ask them in new threads on the forums and in categories that apply to the questions. Occasionally, someone asks a question in another person's forum and it is difficult to say to which person a new answer would be directed. Think nothing of this "little" admonition. It takes time to learn how to use a forum.
We are happy you have chosen to join us.

Welcome! Like you, we are camping weekenders in E. Montana and are so ready to leave the snow behind! We are purging all the "stuff"- what a mess in every room until it's gone! Planning to list house this spring and begin our new life this fall. We are looking at Mission, TX to do our snowbirding. Lots of people our age and lots to do in the Rio Grande area. Just bought our new rig, Redwood 36RL- had to buy it out of state to get a good deal. Husband can't pick it up with our trade -in until Old Man Winter gives us a lucky break. It's getting exciting! Having trouble concentrating at work... Diana & Chuck
