Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Where to stay in Galveston, Texas? What to not miss seeing?

My wife and I are planning to head from Katy, Texas to Galveston on Saturday, December 28. Would appreciate suggestions for a good RV park and "must see and do" places, restaurants and activities while there. We have a 40 foot motor home and toad. Need 50 AMP service. Have 3 pups.

Steve, you are close to where I live. There is a nice RV park on the seawall, but probably quite pricey. Not much vegetation,  but it is next to the water. Not sure you are into shopping,  but the Strand is nice, the cruise ship terminals, restaurants, etc. Will revert with more info if I get a chance. In the hospital with a loved one now. Best of luck.

We're staying in Galveston for a week from Jan. 2 through Jan 8 at Jamaica Beach RV Resort for $225.70 for the week. This is our first time there, and the resort had good reviews on rvparkreviews.com. I too am interested in what there is to do.

I too found Jamaica Beach RV Resort online and made reservations there from December 27 till January 3. So we will have to visit. Just look for the Allegro Bus & blue Ford Escape with two kayaks on top and two bikes on the back. Hopefully by then we will be able to suggest some neat places to visit and great restaurants to eat at. We do plan to visit Moody Gardens and the Strand Historic District for sure.

A great place to visit is Moody Gardens. There are lots of things to do. Also there are some local museums that tell about the Island's history and the Great Hurricane. Galveston doesn't have pretty water, too close to the Mississippi run-off and can get cold in the winter. I, personally like Galveston, enjoy the free ferry ride (you can take a truck on it, or do a walk on. There are some neat WWII bunkers across the ferry, but you'll need your car. Have a wonderful time. Helen
