Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

RV Dreams is the right place for us at this time......

I like the title of this forum -- RV Dreams -- because at the moment buying and full-timing in an RV is just a dream for me and my wife.  As we get more and more interested in it, we find how much there is to know.  So....in the eight years or so until we will be able to full-time, we just continue to research and dream.

My wife and I have lived overseas much of our adult lives (I am from Texas and she's German - I met her when I was a young lieutenant in the army in Germany) and now I work for the US State Department at the US embassy in Switzerland.  Next year we will head to Mexico for my next assignment.  We've also lived in Korea and I've done two tours in Iraq. When all this moving around is done - and I retire - we still don't intend to settle down.  We've never owned a house and don't have that dream - full-time RVing is our dream, and I think that is the life for us.

I look forward to reading about RV dreams here and meeting all of you.  I've found the RV community is a very friendly one and we really are looking forward to joining!

Welcome!! Your life sounds fascinating and I think it's great that despite your travels the RV lifestyle is your dream.  This is a great group of people who all started from a different place and somehow ended up all wanting the same thing.

Welcome to the site!  I've been a member for only a short time, but everyone here has been very friendly and helpful.  Always a new point of view!

Someday, if/when we decide to not full-time RV anymore (we haven't even left yet - still have to sell the house!) we would LOVE to spend some time in Europe, seeing (maybe living in for awhile) different cultures!  That just sounds so exciting!  Maybe if/when that happens, you can pay it forward and help us out with how to do that?!

Kelly

Welcome to the forum. Many years ago my uncle was at State. He and my cousins, too, lived all over the world and it was an incredible experience. Love that you share our dream and that you found this site. Come back often.

Thanks for the welcome! Since becoming interested in RVing I've found two things - there is a wealth of information available about all aspects of RVing, and RV people are incredibly friendly and helpful.

I've gotten heavily into listening to the podcasts of John and Kathy Huggins, Living the RV Dream, including buying all the back episodes, and have really enjoyed that. And I have about 10 books about RVing already, so we have no lack of input into our decision-making process. Since it's a while off yet, we are really enjoying the planning and dreaming more than anything. We did go see one RV show here in Bern, Switzerland and it was quite a day -- I had a torn meniscus and after climbing in and out of RVs all day, my knee was shot. But luckily I've had the arthroscopic operation and am getting back to full speed.

Kelly we would be happy to help you out on any information about traveling in Europe - and if you want to come before August 2014 we have a guest room! We'll be heading to Texas for vacation and then to Washington DC for training, then in May 2015 to Mexico. So we're not fulltiming in an RV but we are full-timing in moving around all over the world!

I look forward to reading a lot of threads on this forum. Thanks again!

JC
