Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

OOooooPs!!!!

So I parked my coach in a closed Grocery store Parking lot......made sure it was placed in a way so it would not impede traffic or coming and going in the lot.

Well the weatherman called for 5" of snow last nite....not bad we could drive through that!!!

The weatherman was wrong again.......16" of snow fell........I parked the coach as far away from both exits as possible (300 yards in either direction)

They dont plow this parking lot because the store is closed....they are only required to keep the fire lanes open around the building!!!

I Hope it warms up soon!!!!!!.......called a snowplow he wants 600 to open a lane for the coach...............DOOooooouuuuuggHHHH !!!!!

Wonder if santa will loan me the Riendeer for a few minutes!!!................(if your boondocking in the snow , dont try this stunt)noconfuseconfusebiggrin

Well you do have about 30' of bare pavement under the coach. Slam the throttle to the floor and HOPE for the best!!! And if you don't make it it'll cost less to plow because you'll be closer??

Sorry to hear this Mike but, gee, trusting the weatherman? Hope it melts soon. It was 58 degrees in KS today and still about 48 degrees this evening. I'll go and fan it your way. Wish I could do more.

Mike could you tell me why do you still stay in an area where the snow keeps coming. I live in Canada today I had to shovel three times we got close to 18 inches of that white sh...... Listen I've been planning to become fulltimer a long time ago and I'm pretty close to hit the road, one thing is for sure is that I do not intend to stay in a place where that white powder called snow will come and anoy me. I prefer rain you don't need to shovel it......

Oh no! Here's hoping a good samaritan with a plow on his truck drives by and sees your plight and generously plows you out!

That what happens when we have faith in the weather people!!! Is it the dry powder type snow and do your tires have deep thread. Start it up and drive it out; it should not spin because the tires are not warm from driving. Just keeping going back and forth until you make a tire path. Think it's about time to get out of DODGE! If you can't I feel for you! It hasn't been the warmest her but at least the frozen stuff hasn't stuck. PIEERE

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Mike. I'd buy a snow shovel and clear out a short path for the wheels to get a running start and plow my way through.

I'm with French Biker though. At this time of year I'd be in Rockport, TX, Big Bend or some other area below the snow belt. Of course this comes from a guy who grew-up in south Louisiana. The only snow we see is in June through August - on our snow-balls (snow cone for you yankees) with flavored syrup and sweet condensed milk on top. Yum!

No wonder you are called 'Lucky'. For $600 you should be able to get to a hardware store by taxi & purchase a snow thrower & have $ left over. You stay up north that snow thrower could come in handy. Good luck Mike!

Just wait it out, when the store decides to open they will call the snow plow. You can then stock up on food an head for warmer weather, or more snow . that's what's good about full timing you get to decide. Good luck mike.

I feel for you Mike! I wish I could offer some suggestions, but where I live When it snows all the neighbors get out their tractor and ATV's and plow everyone's driveways. So I have never had to worry about it. For 600 though I bet you could find a couple of teenagers that if you just needed a couple of tracks would do it for about a $100.00 bucks.

Mike, you know with all the conversation about the things you need to take with you in your coach when you fulltime, the one thing we don't stress enough is a sense of humor. No matter what you think you need, a sense of humor is the number one most important possession to always have with you.

I wish I was there to help you. Do you have enough fuel to keep warm, and food and water?

You can keep busy by building a bunch of snow people around the coach!

I think when I'm ready to pack for the RV, I'll make sure to pack a shovel and bag of salt or kitty litter (for the ice). Although unless I'm caught off guard, I don't plan to be anywhere near the snow belt during the winter. It's real purty when it first falls, but as soon as you step outside.... :(

Good luck and keep up your spirits (or drink some)!!!

I imagine the challenge right now is finding anybody nearby, especially if it's a huge parking lot.

Mike: How is Nikki taking to the snow? Oh, yeah, "Husky" so have answered my own question. Now if you had several full sized Huskies maybe you could hitch them up and ride out of there in style like Santa? I looked at the forecast for your general area and saw there was hope ahead. I do see we in KS are going to drop from the high 50's to the 30's on Friday with freezing rain on Saturday so keep an eye on the forecast and the old "Hope for the best but expect the worst" seems to certainly apply to the weather these days.
