Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Have cats - will travel

More than 20 yrs ago my husband and I became full-timers. We had no money, no savings, no jobs but we wanted to travel the country. Our first destination was the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. We both found work we loved and stayed there for six months. As a result of my first job in the Valley I received a job offer in Corpus Christi so we moved to a campground with the "it" factor in that area. It's a good thing we had no neighbors so I wasn't deemed crazy when I left every morning wearing a suit, pantyhose and high heels. We loved the area, adopted two cats, but (and it was a big but) I hated working for a very rude and very unethical employer.

In an AHA! moment we found Workamper.  That led to a series of jobs in several different states which we loved. The experience we gained led to a great park management position in Florida where stayed for over 5 yrs. My husband started his own business and we traveled 2 wks in Spring and two weeks in the Fall every year while business was good. Of course, we adopted cats whenever one of ours passed away and, of course, they traveled with us.

Now we're living in a "house with no wheels" and getting the travel itch again. RV-Dreamers is an inspiration. We may go again with no money, no savings and many years older (and almost no wiser) but Workamper is still there for usand our cats are willing.

Welcome to the forum!!!!!

I have been in those shoes!!........there now H a P p Y Dance shoes , I started out the same way with doing my exploring and what I called Reverse retirement when I was young then I stepped into the working world and almost everyday wanted back this lifestyle. Then one day the moment came and out I went back to the Thrill of the highway and not knowing where I was headed except this time a little smarter on the money end!!!!!

I made it back out here and dont regret a day of it (maybe a couple) If your heart is calling and your mind is ready the rest is just as it was out here then!!!

Hope to see you out here!!!

Thanks guys. When I found RV-Dreams I went back to the beginning and read every single page of Howard's journal. I've also read your posts in the Forum and enjoyed your sense of humor and good advice. During our travels my husband and I managed to make so many mistakes and to have so many mishaps we could write a book... However, we also had so many wonderful moments and have such great memories we wouldn't trade the experience for a million dollars.

I feel the so-called golden years aren't going to be so golden if we don't run from the rat race again, so, I'm racking my brains and exploring how two senior citizens can continue to make enough $$ to survive on the road. We have the skills but our bodies don't cooperate as much. It will take us some time and some planning (first I have to learn how to back up a trailer or fiver if my husband can't do it) but I'm determined. Some day you'll see a short, gray haired Puerto Rican and a tall cowboy, with several cats looking out the windows, parked in your neighborhood...
