Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Has anyone out there with a newer 2011-2013 F450 had the front factory installed mudflaps tear off at the body line? Mine have each ripped in the bend of the plastic & I am certain I did not hit anything to cause it. I found a thread on a diesel truck forum but the dealer service manager claims he can't find anything & will not warranty even with under 3000 miles on the truck. Just asking...

We had almost the same problem on our 2013 F450 at about 4,000 miles. One front flap tore off in a diagonal pattern when we were driving I-90 in SD. We had hit nothing. Ever. Not covered by warranty said my dealer. Annoying.

My front mud flaps did the same. I didn't bother trying to get them replaced under warranty but bought a set of Duraflaps instead. These are much better than the original.
I have a 2013 F450 and both front flaps tore off by 2500 miles. I just got the factory replacement and will install them soon. Sounds like it will happen again. I've read others and everyone likes Duraflaps so I'll try them next.
Find a way to stiffen the flaps. Anything behind them that will limit the bending will help. Thats why alot of the truckers have chrome emblems on their flaps.
Thanks Jim, but I think it is just the opposite. The flaps are molded plastic & I believe they are too rigid & the constant vibration of travelling down the highway causes them to flex in their weakest point, the crease at the body line. Just as if you take a wire & bend it back and forth until it breaks off. I believe it is poor design on Ford's part. If they were rubber like truckers use, the ones with the stainless weights, they would not have the weak spot. I started this thread to gather info to argue with Ford. I compared the f450 & f550 front flaps at a dealer and they are different yet share the same mounting area. Both were formed plastic with the f450 being longer by 2"-3". I don't know if 550's are having problems though. Thanks to everyone that has commented, at least I know its not just me.

I have a 2013 F450 and both front mud flaps ripped. Going to check with the dealership about warranty replacement. I suspect I'll be purchasing Duraflaps in the near future. Sounds like Ford needs to step up to the plate on this. I'll be taking all these posts with me to the dealership.
