Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I worked at New Horizons in the office in the mid-90s for 3 years with the original owner and designer, Harold Johnson. Before I started working, one of the early ones had delamed and that was their "learning" experience. BUT in those 3 years I was there no one had such a problem. I can say that I saw very, very few issues during the time that the original owner was there. He used to stay a couple of hours after everyone left in the back "prowling" around the shop. He was a wonderful man and would always do everyone right. I see units produced during the time that he was there and if I were in the market for a 5th wheel, I would not hesitate to grab one up. I saw one at PPL online yesterday. He used to get up on the roof, at age 70, and stomp around to show the strength of the roof and my supervisor would say "If someone sees that, they'll probably come lock him up.! So funny! One of the units went through the worst hail storm that I ever seen, our entire town was hail damaged. All of our vehicles were hail damaged and our upstairs windows were broken out as were the neighbors - the hail went through the screens and broke the glass! The New Horizons 5th wheel suffered a broken vent on top, nothing else so............. I don't see a 2005 delaming that way as a maintenance issue on an RV with that price tag.
I decided to send them the link to the ad since I think it should be brought to their attention. But, know too, that sometimes people will let a problem go and not contact the manufacturer and I have no idea why because I am the worst nightmare when it comes to demanding value for my dollar.

Any RV can have a delamination problem - which is what that is (as others have said). I would "guess" that was caused by a leak, but there is no way of knowing without looking at it. The areas that it is in are areas where a leak would typically occur and that need regular maintenance.
I have seen a few examples of delamination on New Horizons, but nothing like that. In those cases the manufacturer took care of the issue. EVERY RV manufacturer has some cases of delam, from time to time. It is usually faulty base materials. Often bad glue, or the sometimes the manufacturing process goes awry and the end result is a delam. It could be a variety of root causes in these cases.
Remember that New Horizons build a very strong and sound unit backed by a 5 YEAR structural warranty. That is probably the longest in the industry. So they do believe in their manufacturing process and back it up.

Well, for most, we'll be wondering how common this problem is now in the NH. A few for such a small manufacturer? This unit looks like it should have a salvage title! I am confused how it can be a maintenance issue since the back and one side did not seem to be delamed.
if you look closely it is forward and is on the seams...in another picture you see the closet and toward the bottom center I see discoloration....Water mark?....also see delamination in the refrigerator area....possible drain tube blockage or draining into the compartment.....to the rear possible sink leak?......bottom line for the year , bad Maintenance....it all didnt just appear ....yearly seam sealing & roof maintenance was not done and looking at the forward area , a tri-pod or support was not used ...good example of what can happen
whats even Sadder is the dealer has it on his lot advertising and pricing it like the damage doesnt exist......bet he does a ton of sales and has a great reputation!!!...................NOT!!

The price is well below NADA, about 1/2 so the dealer realizes it is not the most desirable unit. What I have read is that the only real fix is to replace the entire piece, side, end, etc. I have seen people try to glue it, injecting glue and it doesn't work or I haven't seen it work. I bet I have seen 1,000 or more units and the only other that I have seen with serious delam, a HR Savoy TT was about 1/2 as bad as this NH. I am, of course, more disappointed than most since I had worked for the original owner and was so familiar with the units at that time. I did read here in an earlier topic that the glue was changed and wonder when that took place.
