Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
So the last time we got to put the key & turn it (no, we're not full-timers yet. Seven years and planning to go...) was to attend an oh so fancy Newport Polo tournament. We were asked to go by a colleague to join them for a match. There would be lots of food, drink, friends, dogs, etc. Perfect!, I exclaimed to my darling Dani. We'll take the coach! I did my due diligence and called ahead to make sure the grounds could accommodate us. "Sure, no problem." the gal replied. "We've got plenty of room". The theme was New England seafood. Being a chef by trade I figured it would be a breeze. We'll have running water, an ice cold fridge and freezer for drinks, a stovetop, oven, even a private bathroom so as not to have to share the head with 'the commoners' who, by and large are probably far wealthier than I. After some careful deliberation I set my menu as grilled stuffed squid and New England sushi. Feeling pretty good about myself. Do I show up to the venue and don't you know.........no one gives a Damn about my beloved coach! No one so much as asks to take a tour! Now, of course, this breaks my heart. I mean, she's old, rather un-pretty and all, but really?!? No one's just a bit curious to peak inside? Well, of course I put on a happy face and try to forget that not everyone has the near=obsession with the RV lifestyle that I do. Rather steal a free minute away from work and oogle at some RV Porn? Yep, that's me. I got it bad. Really bad. But until then we carry on, happily raising the kids and wishin for the day they come visit us on the road with THEIR kids. Cause Gram & Grandad are gonna be doin some COOL stuff!
Which brings me to my point.....We've booked a sight near Quechee Gorge the wknd of October 4-6 and plan on doing some leaf touring. Has anyone been up there this time of year and if so, can you direct us to a cool trailway to take? We've got some ideas, but a good seasoned suggestion would help. Thanks!
I am booked for Quechie gorge for the weekend of the 12 13 14......there is a large festival in town that weekend....the foliage is already climbing in that region depending on which way you go there and the time you spend in the gorge itself.....
route 7 from the Berkshires on up is a beautiful ride with alot to do ......if your going up 93 thru NH and then towards white river Juction .....I would suggest checking out the Indian museum near warren and enjoying the ride up....coming back down if you take 5 south it will take you down the Connecticut river and you can cut back toward 93 at several juctions

Be aware that most RV parks in New England close starting on Oct 1st and by the 15th of Oct just about all are closed. I don't know about the state parks though.
We lived in NH for 18 years and as I recall the peak leaf season was pretty well over most years by the end of Oct.
It sure is something to see!!

Greetings all, I drive for a living and this past week have been all over northern VT & N.H. and again will be up there this coming Monday & Tues. The foliage has started in a dull way, There are some bright spots here and there up nothing really outstanding yet. Most likely within 2-3wks it will really be colorful everywhere. Also remember this time of year that Moose, Deer and Bear are very active getting ready for the rut and winter, BE SAFE DRIVING & ALERT.

Safe travels to all, Take each day as a gift for that is truly what it is.
We're heading to New England this coming Friday thru Columbus Day. Will be staying at Westover AFB in Chicopee Ma. Hoping for good weather to tour New England on motorcycle to see the sights.
Love your near-obsession about RV lifestyle! We can totally relate and I often as RVers in our campground if they'd like to show their rig. Being not shy has gotten me in a lot of them!

Just for general info: the foliage is at 60 to 90% north of Burlington at this time. We have already had several frosts in the New England area and cold nites......most campgrounds go into winterize mode on October 15 weekend which means no water or sewer will be available at most campgrounds unless they offer full hookups for winter sites.
the road to the top of mount Washington was closed this morning and the Cog Railway shut down due to Snow and rhine ice in the higher elevations. black Ice has been noticed in the Franconia Notch areas
Be safe if you are coming to northern New England and plan ahead also stay current on the weather for the areas you will be traveling in......I have seen it 65 and sunny up here all day only to wake up in the morning to 6 inches of snow!!
The Moose are Rutting and deer.....lots of bear reports in the lakes region
Enjoy....

We settled on KOA in White River Junction for that very reason. Originally booked into Quechee State park; cheaper but no hook-ups. She didn't want to run the risk of waking up w/frost on her nose!
Gonna try to see if we can stay at a Wally world parking lot about 30 min south of that Fri nite to save some dough. At least we can run the generator to take the chill off if need be.
Thanks for the heads up about the rutting. This sumer we caught our first glimpse of a moose on the Kankamangus trail & it was absolutely amazing! We will be careful driving, though.
Too bad you won't be up there till the following wknd. We missed you in ME by a day and now in NH by a week. Damn! Oh well, we'll catch up one day.
PS: On the Mass Pike yesterday two observations: 1.) Foliage in parts was outstanding!, 2.) Saw well over fifty rigs of various shapes and sizes along the pike! Great to see the RV lifestyle is alive and well!!
Did the over night and northern VT The foliage is almost at it's peak. Bomoseen up Rt 30 to Middlebury was somewhat dull. St. Albens over to Enosburg Falls then down 108 to 15 east to Johnson was a nice ride. 108 they are paving, you can get by with no problems. From Johnson I went down 100 to Waitsfield, the southern hills were full of color, They are also paving South of Waitsfield on 100. 100 has to be one of the most scenic routes in VT. Highly recommend it down through the valley, From the top of Vt. to the bottom. Barre over to St. Johnsbury on Rt. 2 is in full color as well (minor construction on 2)
Northern VT is close if not at it's peak and central Vt. by next week will be close to peak.
Enjoy and safe travels.
