Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Has anyone ever had their toilet bubble up when flushing? This happened for the first time yesterday. DH thinks it might be gas build up... Anyone else had this happen before? BTW, we emptied the tank today and it's gone...

My wife dumped some dish soap down the tank in an effort to get what the manufacturer called "that fresh mountain scent" into the tank.....boy did that bubble, and foam, and bubble and foam.
You need a Plumber's snake, available at a hardware store like Ace, Home Depot or Lowes.
I had to change the link since the link kept getting truncated. Now I show one at Amazon instead of a Wikipedia link. -- Edited by bjoyce on Thursday 19th of September 2013 11:08:27 AM

Thanks for the replies. Our tank is empty so it's not because it's full. We'll check on the vent and see if we can find if that is the culprit. When looking down into the hole while flushing it appears to have some TP visible. How can you plunge in a RV???

I'm a little confused...you said the toilet was bubbling which is an indicator of a full black tank but then you dumped it and it's gone. Wouldn't that tell you the full tank was the culprit?

RVing probably not a reality any more.It was a good time while it lasted.
Depending on what you mean as to being able to see toilet paper down there after you have dumped.....if it looks to be stacked up getting close to the bowl entrance you could have developed "The Cone of Death" also known in English Terms as a large pile of..%#@t......
if this is the case flood your black full of water or purchase a tank rinsing wand and proceed to break it down so it will exit the tank....
if you dont own a tank rinsing wand and your tank does not have one built in....I would deeply suggest one and use it at least monthly

Another trick. We have found filling a five gallon bucket 2/3's full of fresh water and pouring in the toilet bowl with the valve open creates enough force to wash down "the cone of death" lol. And having a empty 5 gallon bucket comes in handy around camp too!.
