Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello everyone! I've been lurking on the forum for a bit reading helpful hints and tips. My wife and I just bought our first travel trailer, a 07 Keystone Cougar 306bhs. We have a little experience in RV's but have been dying to go full time since we first met and it looks like we will be able to move into the trailer full time in about 2 months. I'm active duty navy so the trailer will work great with my job, and honestly it's been something I've been looking forward to doing when I retired, but it looks like I get this dream a little early. Thanks to everyone on here for the helpful topics, I've learned a ton in the limited time I've been lurking :) Thanks to Howard and Linda for the site too, I've spent my entire day reading their accounts of the days leading up to going full time, and their site reviews. I'll be dreaming RV dreams tonight!!! Thanks again!!
Welcome. Your post reminded me of the first time I heard of fulltimers, when I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, AK in the mid-70's. If you are familiar with those first Winnebago motorhomes, the "lifers" which they were called, members on the verge of retirement had purchased them and then planned to travel once retired. At that time, it seemed like a strange notion to me but when we met up with lots of people doing this, all sorts of people from every walk of life in the mid-90's, I could not see how anyone could want to do anything else! My husband was in the Navy and my older son in the Active Army Reserve. As you know, travel is addictive!
First of all, thanks for your service to our country. You will find lots of vets here who will likely join me in appreciating both your service and the sacrifices of your family. Glad to have you as part of our little RV family here at RV Dreams.
Welcome to the forums. I have no idea how long you have been lurking, but in case it's been a short time, you will find a lot of knowledgeable folks here. Ask away about anything that comes to mind and you will likely find some good answers.

Thank you all!! I have plenty of questions, I'll try to find the right area to post them in, but I'm still seeing if they've been answered already in another post as I'm sure most of them have.
Cathy, you're right about travel being addictive. I have been traveling since I was very young and the Navy just suited that part of me, now that my time here is winding down I'm taking it on the road again!!!
Terry, thank you! I can't imagine having done anything else with my life but what I did. No regrets, it's been a long road but one I would walk again if given the opportunity. I've been lurking long enough to know you have a lot of the answers I'll be looking for, haha.
It's a pleasure to find such a connected group, I'm just so excited to get on the road!!! But first I'm doing every little thing I can to our trailer to make sure she's as ready as we are.
Oh, and before I go. I'm Josh, and my wife is Christine. She's amazing and really the most adventurous outgoing crazy woman I have ever met. I'm sure we'll post pic's of some of the travels soon. Again, thank you all!!
Say "Hi" to your Christine from the whole bunch of us. Also, when you begin to live this lifestyle, if you plan to share experiences and photos, you might consider starting a blog. Two different sources for hosting of blogs are Google's Blogger and WordPress. I'm sure that when you start sharing photos, folks will be anxious to see what you see and learn from what you learn.
Also, if you feel that you would prefer to query people more on a one-to-one basis, you can always go to those person's profile (click on their username) and below the information on their profile is an active link labeled as "Send Message." Just click on that link, think up a title, and write away.

It's always fun when friendly enthusiastic folks like you jump in and join this forum. Adding our thanks to others for your service as the male half of our twosome is retired Navy also. We very much enjoy the military famcamps that we've found so far and appreciate the value.
We have a fun couple in our park right now, the husband was in the Canadian Navy as a sub hunter and mine was in the US subs so lots of ribbing going on.
Welcome again,
Sherry

Welcome Josh and Christine, Thank you for your service. Howard and Linda and everyone on the forum are here for you if you need any advise. We have been able to avoid many mistakes by listening to what others have had to experience. That is not to say that we haven't experienced a few "bumps in the road" ourselves but you learn to caulk it up to experience and keep on going. There is so much beauty, history and real good living on the road. We are starting our 7th year as full-timers and love the life. We wish you the best. From an old VietNam SeaBee and his wife.

Thanks all!! Allan, I'm currently a seabee, saw that you are too. Small world! We have now been taking our camper out every chance we get, and as soon as we can we are going full time, hopefully by november! Love this site so far, still just reading a lot, so much information, and every week we spend in the camper I come up with a dozen more questions. Thanks again all!!
Always good to hear from a fellow blue-jacket. Wish you guys the best. If things go as planned for us, we'll be down your way for part of the winter and hope to get in some diving in the Gulf. Also have a retired brother in Bonita Springs to visit. Hope to see you out there somewhere. Patrick/Linda
