Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Stupid State !!

In Washington you can't register or change the address on your drivers lic. to signify your full timers. They allow you to call youur address "Under the bridge" for the homeless, (This is true it's in writing on the website)

So Can't use PO box or  mail forwarders address in Washington, we had to own some taxable property.

We finaly went to "Port Susan Camping Club" around Marysville, WA and bought a lot.

This solved two problems, (1) Changing the DL address. (2) Now we can have Direct TV because we will have a perm. address.

I know others will have thier own ideas but we researched this since Sepetember.

We don't plan on putting down roots again, just staying there for a couple of months a year (I hope)

We use a relative's address in Washington and know others who do the same, either a relative or a trusted friend. We have both done jury duty based on our address, so it really is official. We need to be Washington state residents for health insurance.

Yet another reason we decided to become SD residents this summer. We already have a mail box at a mail center, not a USPS PO Box, and we still couldn't change our DL or vehicle registrations, even temporarily to that location.

SD will be less expensive for the annual licensing, insurance, no emissions test required, etc. so we're headed east in August.

Great choice! We use Alternative Resources in Sioux Falls as our forwarding service but  there are a number of other good ones in SD.

One thing many people don't think about when choosing a legal domicile is jury duty.

Minnehaha county (Sioux Falls) excuses full timers from it. When you receive a summons all you have to do is write "Full Timer" on it and return it.

There is some good info on the AR site HERE.

I got a kick out the Under The Bridge address. That would be kind of fun to have on your DL!  biggrin

Yup -  We moved from NH to SD years ago and before we moved, we "rented" a room from our daughter and that was our NH address on our DL and car/motor home registrations.

You know, this seems UnConstitutional. If you pay taxes, you should have all the priveleges, and the right to live as you choose. This sounds like 'ye olden days, when only "land owners" had rights. Reminds me, I need to keep track of my receipt for this RV park, the puppy has been "taking my things" to chew on, and I will need it for the Nevada DMV.

Well, I'm surely not surprised.  It used to be that you couldn't purchase the ready-made food, what we consider a "treat", from the grocery store with food stamps (Vision card here) but now they can.  So, I got my raw chicken and after putting in a hard day working on the house, cook, serve it, clean up after it but years from now, when they are purchasing their deli roast chicken, I'll be cooking mine on the grill in some beautiful forest outside my full-timer RV!!!  Hey, when you are working on a dream you can take a few lumps.  SD sounds really good.

STUPID STATE

When I read that I thought that surely you were going to reference LOUISIANA,
Reprieve, for a while anyway.
