Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Custer Crazyhorse Campground info needed

Hello, I've been offered a partime maintenance job at Custer Crazyhorse campground in Custer SD. All sounds pretty good except I can't find any reviews or information about the campground except their website. Would like to gather a little information before I commit.

By the way hello to all as this is my first post. I've been a lurker for awhile.

Thanks for any information  you may have about the campground or the area.

Jim

You should put this on the thread "Working and Volunteering on the road." I believe there is a member on here who works there.

have you joined workamper news!!! They also have a forum! if you go to the top to the search. Type in the Info; it should come up. There is another site out there I believe it is called RV ProBoards. You may have to do a browser search using workamper experiences; good or bad. Hope this helps!!

Pierre, yes I'm a member of Workamper.
I sure thank you for your help and direction.
I believe I will accept the position and see how the dice roll, at least the job is in an interesting area.
Have a great one and take care!

Jim,

I don't know anything about Custer Crazyhorse campground but we've made 3 trips to the Custer South Dakota area in the last few years and have loved every minute there.  There's all sorts of interesting stuff to see and do and to say it's beautiful is an understatement!  We enjoyed hiking on the logging trails near the RV park where we stayed and we also did some hiking in Custer State Park.  The hike up Harney Peak is well worth it.  Gorgeous views.  I'm envious that you'll be spending the entire summer there.  You should check out the Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park in the fall.  We really enjoyed it.  Good luck and have fun in SD!

Jim,

I really have no idea how it would be to work there but ....... We are camped less them 2 miles from there and pass by it often. The place looks like an old KOA judging by the "A frame" office. There are sites on top of the ridge next to the roadway (US 16/385) and they are out in the open and sit between the highway and the office. There are other sites behind the office and down below the "high ground" and these are in the shade of both the hill and the pine trees.

The area here is great and we are having a ball both at work (we work at the Crazy Horse Memorial) and exploring on our days off.
One thing you may ask is if they offer their workers the "VIP Pass". Most of the places here do, and it is a nice perk getting you into a lot of the tourist attractions for free or at a very reduced rate. The pass is provided by the local visitors bureau I think.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them for ya'

Phil

Sounds great Phil. Thanks for the information. Looks like we may be neighbors by the middle of next month.
I'm looking forward to playing tourist as well as any maintenance type work that may come my way.
This is my first official job as a Workamper although where I lived before was in an RV park and I was the go to guy to help the owner.
Also looking forward to the somewhat cooler weather.
Take care and thanks,
Jim
